Mustang Front Control arms??

Fox Mustang front lower controls arms are 3/4" narrower than 87-88 T-Bird arms, correct? Could I  use the narrower track width to improve tire clearance to the front fender lip, would MM caster camber plates be enough to correct the geometry?

Dustin right....

86 older use the stang arms. 87-88 uses sn95 style mustang arms. im not sure of the amount in differance. it mostly depends on the offset of the rim i would imagine. bringing the whole rim in might cause a problem with the tire rubbing on the inside. i cant realy say yet, i havnt been involved with the suspension of my car yet. im a learn as you go and do type...

hows the progress with the car btw...

I know a guy who installed the Mustang A arms in a '88 Bird to inprove tire/fender clearance. He has the caster/camber plates and never said anything about having a alignment prob..

You can indeed use the shorter arms for better clearance. See the comparison here:

You won't have any problems with alignment and c/c platges. Hell, if I didn't with Y2K Cobra R Bilstein struts, you won't with stock struts. :) I'm not sure about things if you didn't have c/c plates though.

I went through the same problem on my '86 convertible...it would be nice to have the longer arms but I just hate the way the wheels stick out past the fenders with them. Talking to my mechanic about this, he finally asked me, "Do you like the way your wheels sit now?" And I said, "Hell yeah, I love the stance...it's perfect all around and doesn't stick out at all." Then he said, "Well...there's your answer then." I went with stock Fox Mustang/Cougar/T-Bird A-arms and have not regretted it once. He was totally correct.

When putting the mustang control arms on an 87-88 do you need different tie rods or will the stock ones still fit? Sorry for the hijack.

Stock ones fit..you will just need to adjust them in and have the car realigned obviously
