Confused April 15, 2009, 02:55:03 PM Hey guys, as you know I've been working on my 85 for a while now and have alot that needs to be done before it is put back on the road again. Problem is I have another car I have been toying with that runs and drives (We'll not talk about that). At one point I was even thinking about selling it and letting someone else fix it up. I want to keep it but I just don't really feel like its getting any easier to buy the parts to fix it. I got laid off in December (Day after Christmas no less) and haven't found a new job yet, my wife is working at a new job making more money so we are doing just fine. I guess what I am trying to say is, I feel like I have somewhat lost the love for my car (Never thought I'd say that). I love being on this forum and seeing all of your beautiful cars but i just get so overwhelmed knowing I really shouldn't be throwing money into my hobby whilly nilly right now. Now that its in the mid 60's outside I want more and more to work on something but I just get irritated with the Cougar. Should I just leave it in the shop for now and wait it out? I've come to really value all of your opinions so let me know what you think. Quote Selected
Confused Reply #1 – April 15, 2009, 04:16:06 PM If you have to sell, sell. There are a lot of things you can for free or next to nothing. That will keep you both busy and working toward the final product. It all depends on what you want and need to do. Quote Selected
Confused Reply #2 – April 15, 2009, 04:47:05 PM It sounds to me like you are having one of those moments that all of us have with our cars. Times when you've sorta lost hope and wanna give up. If we did that every time it happened no one would ever get our cars done. There are tow ways to deal muscle through it or wait it out. If you need to get done just Muscle though it, but if have the time wait it out. Sooner or later your mind is bound to over come the issues and get back on track. Normally the later nets better results but takes more time. My vote is to keep it! Quote Selected
Confused Reply #4 – April 15, 2009, 05:50:22 PM I say keep it, let it sit and stop dumping money in it if you have to, you will hate yourself if you let it go. If it's not hurting anything sitting, why worry? Quote Selected
Confused Reply #5 – April 15, 2009, 07:11:51 PM Let me say, If you are somewhat pinched financially and losing interest in a project....let the project go. There will be others. Ive come to realize this with age, you may have to pay a little more later or travel a little further, but they are always there, But you do it later when you are in a better position to really ENJOY the project. This is not a time to increase the stress financially and with our partners. There will be more Cougars/Thunderbirds in the future. I cant speak for everyone, but you will always be welcome here, and to live vicariously through all the projects here.God knows there are many projects here, and we all love the support and input., am I on a roll tonight or what? Confused Reply #7 – April 15, 2009, 10:21:03 PM I agree. There are other cats and birds around but you have a little rare one. Come summer and my 86 vert will have been sitting in the garage in pieces for 3 years. So what? I haven't gotten a chance to get to it that's all. Even if it's 10 years down the road, I know one day I'll have the time for it. At least when that time comes I won't have to say " I wish I didn't sell the car!" Ok some of the love has faded for it I must admit but it can still be rekindled. I say if you aren't in a bind then definitely keep it! Quote Selected
Confused Reply #8 – April 16, 2009, 03:09:59 PM Nah, I'm not really in a bind and really didn't think I'd ever sell it. Just got somewhat irritated with it. I am going to let it sit in the shop and let it remind me of it each time I go in there . I appreciate all you guys giving me your honest opinion. I have to agreee with a few of you, turbo cougars don't come by that often so I don't think it'd go to a loving home if I sold it. Thanks guys. Quote Selected
