Struts

About 2 years ago i had new struts put in in the front of my '88 Tbird v6. Since I've had these new struts, my car creaks really bad whenever I turn. It's most noticeable when I turn the wheel while going in reverse. I had it looked at and I was told that the problem could be that whoever put the new struts in didn't use a mounting kit....is this valid? Any other reason for this creaking?

How hard is it to put new struts in? I'm thinking about doing it myself.

It's possible that the old strut mounts are allowing that noise to happen. Could be other things also (bad ball joint, loose end link), but if you are positive that you've traced the noise to the exact time of strut installation, then you're probably right.

Installation procedure in great detail is here:

I don't do a lot of work on my car myself to be honest. I'd really like to learn a lot of stuff, but I simply don't know where to start learning.

But I do know for a fact that after I had a shop replace the "old struts", this noise came to be. I never had this noise with the old struts.
