So I am in the planning stages of building a Pikes Peak Hill Climber

Does anyone have any good suggestions for a rally car? I was thinking of throwing a 2.3T into a Miata. I have also considered an 83-86 Cougar (mainly because I want one again lol) I want to get started in the late summer and work on it as a winter project. It could take me up to 2 years to complete.

All suggestions are welcome as long as it's a Ford!!! :burnout:

btw I missed the hill climb last year (oldest rally race, second oldest of any auto race behind the indy 500.) and I will not make that mistake again. I plan on taking plenty of pics this year :D

that cars even in the right area.

I think one of these cars would make a good rally car. I think a pinto would do better though. There fairly light, and all the mustang stuff bolts in as well.

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

That car is already a built, proven performer... You'll be into it for more than $11K if you try and build one.
