Why not to buy a GTR

Personally I don't really get it, why buy an expensive car like this when you can spend less and BUILD a better car? I guess I'm cheap or maybe I'm just that kind of guy but supercars and expensive GT cars are beyond me.

Simple.  Status for one reason.  Refinement for another.  If I build a LS2 powered last generation RX7 with say 500 HP and it can turn 1.0+ g on a skidpad while running comparable lap times to the GT-R it might be cheaper, but I doubt it will be dead quiet in traffic.  I also doubt the ride quality on uneven pavement would be as good.

I've spoken with quite a few exotic car owners.....Most of them could be bothered with maintenance of a vehicle.  It's beneath them.  Something for the help or hired hand to contend with.
Different mindset.

i heard a guy talking about getting a GTR, he said it was about $190,000.  thats pretty much 100,000 over MSRP.

Also, when you buy an exotic second hand, have a mechanic look it over before any money transactions.  they're KNOWN to not be maintained and ruined.  TESTEROSA.

I think I would rather have a new 370Z; it comes with a true manual and doesn't cost nearly as much.

It is a true manual, just not a conventional "old school" manual.

The only difference I know of is the rev-matching feature, which is needed by pretty much everyone out there, myself included. I never have and likely never will bother doing this on my own.

I'd rather buy a 2010 Mustang with the track pack and mod that. They are proven on the track and its a good old fashioned Ford pony car.

I'd drive one if someone gave it to me. I saw one today for the first time in real life. It looks pretty okay actually. In the pictures it looked really awkward to me.

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

Ummm...yeah. How about, reread the quote above. Doesn't matter what car it is, or what the price range is, or what label the marketing department slaps on the vehicle. This is all you need to know. If you can't run with the big dogs, stay on the porch.

Thats why we run with the big cats! :hick:

but to put things into perspective. When I went to the porshe dealership to look at that 3000GT VR4 we went over financing and the dude was kinda oblivious to the whole process. I asked him, how many times do people actually ask for financing at this dealership.. he said most of the time people just write checks.

I was like :punchballs:

So when the people who are actually buying these cars can write a check without a second though. I am sure $2000 is the least of their worries. Hell, they probably use that for toilet paper...
