Non-Stop but Nothing Done Weekend

Had one of those weekends where you are non stop running around but feel like you got nothing done, or nothing you needed done.

Pulled parts off the van. About 2 weeks ago my Dad went out to start our old van because this guy wanted to buy it. Hooked up the charger, sprayed a little starting fluid in the carb and started right up. Ok, this is a van, 85 GMC. You sit right next to the motor. Plus you only have only have so much room in and out of the door. So that being said here is what happened....

It backfired and next thing he knew it went up. Whole motor on fire. Luckily he got out and didnt set himself on fire or get burnt. Call the FD and by the time they got there (literally 2 blocks away) It spread all the way to the back of the van. Lost a lot of out hunting stuff, some of our fishing stuff, a few of my parts, a lot of God only knows what and the van. Good chunk of $$$ up in smoke within minutes. Because we live so close to the station it really saved a lot of damage. If things would have gotten hotter toward the rear the mini propane tanks would have gone, and the ammo he had in his hunting bag. We got lucky overall. There is a reason this happened even though it seems like it was nothing but bad. There is good in there somewhere.

This shows where the carb is to where my Dad was.

Then I pulled what I figured I could sell and called it that. Will be getting s this week.

Then today I tried to clean out my car after work and before the GF got off. Ended up turning into cleaning it out, plus putting in high beams (donated from the van), and removing the tar paper from the trunk.

I did all of this with little to no sing. Didnt want to expose any metal from sing because the trunk leaks.

Before

After

Lost a few pounds. All of that just pulled right up. Ill get the rest of it when the day comes to coat the inside of the trunk.

Then I saw this at Wal Mart. The streets are no longer safe....

Super Honda!!!!

I couldnt stop laughing. Had a huge Honda emblem on the hood too.

So i got no sleep yet that is all I have to show for this weekend.

And a 13.75 1/4 pass. With a reaction time of .810. Yeah that bad. Was my first time on the track ever. Ran a new Challenger. He only got me by .3 of a second I think. He had a .180 reaction time. I would have had him if I would have known what I was doing. Still ran faster than both of my buddy's passes with .5?? reactions. Oh yeah, his car not mine. 05 GTO LS2 BONE STOCK. Good times.:burnout:

85 GMC: seen it before in a Jimmy.  Guy I went to school with was 4-wheeling, got stuck, revved it up trying to get out, caught on fire, burned up.  Called me to come tow it out the next day, said I could have it for free.  (did you offer that guy the same offer, lol?)  In the back were a bunch of twisted barrels from what used to be shotguns.  Sold the 350/TH350 as rebuilders, and the Tcase to someone else. I feel for ya, that sux.

Nice post count HAVI. Perfect 1300.

Yeah I think I'd tear that thing up and get as much usable stuff out of it. Rear, tranny, etc. at least make a little money out of it.

Was a strong motor, tranny shifted great and rear is good. The problem is I cant get really anything more off of it because we have no way to trailer it. Meaning we have to sell it to someone and they are picky about what they will pay since it was on fire. Doesnt make sense i you are just going to crush it.... They want more from it.

Should have tried and dropped the tranny but my Dad was gone all weekend and my luck I would have dropped it letting it down and broke myself.

We didnt even offer it to the guy. Need to make as much out of it as we can. Sucks because there is only so much we can do. As it sits that is about all that is coming off of it.
