Black Dome Light?

Found this while browsing ebay:

Seller says its a "Factory Black Finnish" dome out of an 85 T-Bird.

Did these really come from the factory in black? I've only ever seen Chrome.

Even the TCs were chrome.  Never seen a black Finn (or Swede).

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

I have a dark blue one in my car. I took it out of an 87-88 car in the boneyard. Everything on the car seemed original, but who knows. Just thought I would share.

That style housing was used thoughout Fords model lines. It is possible that it came from a huge variety of cars and trucks. As for coming from the factory like that maybe a late build car but I still have doubts.

Since he said it was out of an 85 I would bet it was painted by previous owner or was swapped by previous owner.

Vinnie,

Do you have a chrome one and a painted one that you can compare side by side?  I'd be interested in confirming the painted ones are factory and are not painted over chrome.
