some kinda electric problem?

so here is my story :mullet:

on sunday no problem starting car. all day. go out later in the day car starts up , im sitting at a light and turn signals wont work they stay on, then i notice that the heat is off. so i drive and the car starts acting up not running right , then it stops.
no lights or power. cant get it to start. tried jumping it and it would run . then it would turn off.
anyway get it towed home, the next day i check all connections on the alternator, clean the terminals , car starts right up strong. let it run awhile, take it for a ride. about  5 minutes later all the power is gone and the car stops. so i swap batterys with a new one my freind had , and the car ran for like 2 minutes and the power faded away and that was it.
alternator is charging so the tester says. am i going :rollin:  nutzs. what should i look for ?
any ideas.

thanks

turned out to be the alternator after all. something happened to it that let it charge a little but not enough, and still looked like it was charging when tested. but i still dont get why it needs to be replaced, when i did it november 2007.
