Screw you Ford... I'm going to get a ranger riding a mustang to restore your focus on the expedition needed to escape from the edge of bankruptcy.

They are somewhat rare, but not overly so.  I had an '83 Cougar LS with one.  I suppose it was a pretty heavily optioned car for '83.  It still didn't have much information to offer.  No tach, no oil pressure, no engine temp, no voltage meter.  Just digital speedometer and digital fuel gauge.  I don't think it's a plug-and-play install if your car didn't come with one.  It is a slight improvement over the bare-bones gauges that most '83/'84 cars came with, though.

i will try to get my car in the garage this weekend and swap out the cluster.  obviously my fuel reading will be off since i'm not dropping the tank for some time, but i can at least verify the rest

off topic a little, but lumpy, if you don't change your sender, it will read half full when it is empty and will read empty when it is full :)

the buttstuffog sender you have reads 8-12 ohms full/60 to 86 ohms empty

the digital sender you need for the cluster reads 160 ohms when full/ 15 ohms empty

when i swapped motors, i had to swap to a 87 tank which has the fuel pump and sender seperate (the 83-85--- think maybe 86--- have a fuel pump and sender in 1 hole)..... anyway, i drove for a month with an buttstuffog senger (the one that came with the tank at the junkyard) before i found a digital tuned sender that worked :).... sure was weird driving down the road and watching my fuel level rise :toilet:

so it is possible, just not convenient..... glad you already have that sender :)

OOOH!!!  I'm a Eco Hypermiler :burnout: Not bad for 79mph on the interstate 2hours a day

yeah i already have the sender, i just wanna swap the cluster lol.

i dont care what the fuel reads so long as it isnt actually empty.  i dont go many places, plus i still need 160 in parts before it will even pass inspection, plus plates and ins.

for the time being...tinker time with the little stuff hahaha
