I know. Its not a fox :o(

So, a few weeks ago the wife and i were involved in a bizar car accident. A drunk driver almost hit a kid in the road and hit a parked car just ahead of me and i managed to hit him. No one was hurt asside from my car and in part my freaking pride. The damage wasnt really bad at all. Very fixable but unfortunately both airbags went off, totaling my beloved halfbreed. Initially i was going to fix it but then started thinking about swapping into a fox. I really miss my bird. I even found a mint one local to me. Somehow i ended up on auto trader to see what was out there as with the lowsey econemy and the approaching off season i figured there may be some sweet deals out there. Turnes out i was right. After searching and looking at a few 03'04 stangs (i was looking for something mint in and out with the black interior) i decided to look at some ealier ones. other than the center console and the dash being different (99-00' have the earlier single din dash and the 01-04 have the double din setups) the cars are basically the same. I ended up taking a drive to look at one that could go either way. It was another Y2K gt listed with 19k miles. I half assumed the mileage was wrong and the car was hacked together given its mods (typical for this area). I was actually stunned at the car. Very mint throughout. Even still has the new car smell. Everything checked out with carfax and the condition of the car reflected its mileage. it clicked 20k on my test drive. They provided a stack of around 9k in receipts from a reputable shop that did the mechanical work to the car. No receipts for the body work, wheels, tires, brakes as wel as a few other small details that would add up to thousands more. Anyway, given the mods and low mileage of the car the dealer thought they had something that they didnt. They put way too much money into it and it sat at the stealership (agm one) all summer long. I was able to pick it up for 1500 less than it books out for. My ins. check covered that as well as half of the salvage bid to buy halfbreed back. Ended up costing me about 850 to keep her.

So, the plans are to swap the 4 valve into the new car along with the 6 speed. If i cant manage to get brackets to mount the blower (Vortech V2-SQ) on the 4 valve ill sell the new cars engine along with the blower and that should come close to at least buying a used D1SC. (the blower i actually want). Either way ill sell the new cars engine and tranny. Ill probably sell the rear deck and spoiler and use Halfbreeds. The hood probably will be sold or traded for a new mach 1 hood as well. I may or may not sell or thrade the front bumper in favor of the 01 cobra bumper. Its suprising how different the 2 cars look. The terminator look is growing on me but it realy doesnt suit me as moch as the look halfbreed had. I will have some parts to sell off of these cars as i go along such as the mach 1 suspension, cobra brakes, wheels, rear diff, spindles, front control arms etc.....

So...what do you all think?

Nice find! I like the 03-04 Cobra look a lot. I say atleast keep the bumpers. I really like the deck too though. Did they run it at the track at all?

No, not that i know of. i plan on running it in the spring before i start fiddleing with it. epping is closed for the year. i do have a dyno sheet. it pulled peaks of 366.3/371.5, not too bad for a 2 valve.

I wish it was a termie. They are still way too pricey around here unfortunately (20k and up) but once the 4 valve is in there with the SC it should go pretty good. should put down close to the 400 to 425 to the ground i was looking for anyway. I cant wait to lose the 2 valve. it sounds like a p.u. truck.

Nice score. I did like the red one though. If possible I'd make the new one look like the old one. Too bad you couldn't fix *Halfbreed* though....

its fixable. no structural damage other than the radiator support. didnt even compress the absorbers. needs the core support, ds fender, hood, bumper (barely even damaged that) headlight and ps resivior and dang airbgs. possibly an inner apr0n but its realy not bad. just dont care for the salvaged title. seeing the silver car really pushed me over.

thanks. i plan on making it look like the red one. just need the mach 1 hood. not sure on wich front bumper ill go with buy most likely the 01 cobra like on the red car. ill prob keep the rear one. mirrors will stay. i have mach1 sail pannels that will go on as well as saleen side skirts. ill likely use the red cars decklid and spoiler. im going to paint the car the same burnt orange color as the later dodge daytona trucks . if not that, laser red again but i wouldnt mind something different.

nice. its not having forget internals thats going to keep me held back. the 4 valve should take 8-9 psi 400-430ish rwhp fine with a safe tune if the strim will get it there. i was actually content with the 4 valve as it was but heck, the brackets arent too expensive i might as well keep the blower.

I looked it up again and I missed something the fist time I read it. The Cobra was rear endedand they swapped EVERYTHING in a V6. Looks like a nice job though. That is why it was so cheap.
