The Mass Air "kit"?Was the Mass Air added to the convertible or did it come with it?Either way, you'll have to do some re-pinning on the '88's harness, and running the wires to the computer. It's easy to do.I did mine in a couple of hours, and that included pulling the main harness because I didn't want to install the wires in the limited space I had, although it's not that hard modding the harness in the car.

If the Mass Air "harness" in the convert was added, you'll need to get the harness off the computer behind the kick panel, and un-clip the wires needed and pull them out.

Take the plug off the maf and follow the wires. If you put them there you would know. If not you got to follow the wires.

Wuss I did mine with the passenger seat in (but all the way back);)  It helps that I'm 5'9" and only 160 lbs though.....

If you converted the 'vert to MAF just pull out what you put in and swap it over to the Cougar. On the plus side you have an 88 Cougar so you don't have to run the wires for the VSS.

I'm 6'0'' and 200 lbs.I'm more of a manly size.LOL.I left the passenger seat in as well.I can pull a main harness and re-install it FAST.Practice makes perfect (even if the practice was originally against my will).LOL.

I converted mine with the harness on the work bench... Added the VSS wiring as well, as my harness is a '87...

Black88, if I remember crrectly, you stated the Stang was a '89 which means it's part of the factory harness, not added on.... I'd guess the new owner would be highly PISSED(I know I would be), if the harness is hacked up to remove the wiring...

Fabbing a harness from scratch is pretty easy.Just run to the boneyard and grab a Mass Air plug, some wire is easy, and the ends for the computer.
