autoX - i need new tires

went to my third event today. it was a long day, and semi-frustrating despite the fun i was having.
i made my first three runs all in the 52's. i was a lil perturbed due to not improving any on my time. the course was well layed out and looked fast when i walked, but felt slow when i was driving.
the third run i tried to push a lil harder and ended up taggin a cone AND slightly slower on my raw time. things continued downhill from there. the fourth run i tried a different line and ended up collecting 4 cones and hardly any faster. fifth and sixth runs i went back to my original line, but the car was all over the place anytime i pushed hard in any sort of maneuver.
it felt kinda like i was over driving the car, but the course was so nice and i felt slow. my times were also slow compared to others on the time board. when i tried to go faster i ended up either in a four wheel drift, or with the tail hanging out due to throttle induced oversteer. i really need to get some new tires. these are 5-7yo 390 treadwear spoogehos leftover from a couple previous projects. id really like to hold off for the new spoogeho XS to come out....otherwise ill grab a set of MXs or falken azeni RT615s

raw times:
52.263
52.102
52.592(+1)
51.946(+4)
50.660(+1)
51.624(+2)

ill update with official results as soon as they are up on the CSCC site.

+1 on the spoogehos in general, that model looks promising.  I have it on good authority they're an excellent choice for your situation.

If you're running SCCA, would you remind me of the class?  Does your club have a PAX index class?

SM and yes

ive read everything i can find about the XS. if the price falls in line where it should be, they will be my first choice of new tires for the tbird. they were supposed to be released in august, so who knows how long it will be till they are actually ready.

I got a second set of wheels for mine(american racing- used mesh style) and put some hoosier road race tires on in an r6 compound.  I love them, but my car still pushes, so I got some new sway bars.  gonna put the rear on tonight, and the front one should come tomorrow since I ordered the wrong one the first time:mad:

1 3/8" front and 1" rear compared to the 1 1/4front and 3/4 back.  Definately helped because I came in 4th out of 12 or so in SM, so I actually trophied:D
