84 cougar 6cyl starter solenoid wiring

the starter solenoid on the 84 cougar 6cyl i got is bad, and it seems to be wired wrong.....  i have the 83 books, but mine only show wiring for a carbed v6 and the 84 v6 is efi.....  could anyone post a pic of their starter solenoid wiring or a pic of the page from the evtm for the 84 v6 or verify that the wiring is the same?... i'd greatly appreciate it

My 84 T-Bird 3.8 relay is mounted at an angle.
The pointed up and toward the firewall big terminal has the large black wire to the starter motor.

The pointed down and toward the battery big terminal has the red battery cable and 4 other wire ring terminals. One is yellow, one has two wires in it that may have been red before they faded and two are black or dark blue.

The small push-on connector toward the engine with two red wires in it.

you could scroll to the top of the electrical tech and click on the sticky where i posted the entire 87 EVTM,,, it will show a pic of your starter relay wiring.  Then you can look for yourself.

its pretty basic though,

red boot wire- slip it on one stud, ignore the other stud which is not used
hook your starter wire up to one large stud.
hook your battery and all other ring lugs to the other large stud.

If the car does not start (no noise at all, relocate your red slip on boot to the the other slip on stud.
