Ground Effect mounting - Front Air Dam

I purchased and mounted some ground effects for my car.  The front air dam came with screws and screw holes to mount.  It also had double sided tape on it.  The screws are located one on each side, one on each corner, and then 4 evenly spaced across the front.  I'm thinking that this is not stock and that somebody did it as a fix or to be over protective that they did not come loose.

Are these needed?  I see so many pictures of your cars with the front air dam/ground effect and no screws.  When I take my car to get estimates for paint, I want to be sure to give them specific instructions on how I want them mounted.  I would love to fill in the holes and lose the screw heads.

Thanks in advance!

The only place it should be screwed on is inside the fender lips, other than that, it should be held on with 2 sided tape. Personally, if i were you i would definitely fill in the holes and lose the screws.

That's good news.  I figured it was somebody else's handy work.  Yep, filling them in FOR SURE!.

Thanks, yo.

Let me know how that tape is and how it works for you.

I screwed mine on but I am replacing my bumper anyways because it is cracked pretty bad. I dont want to use screws on my new one.

My first Kameii airdam came with two screws, the same double-sided tape, and a tube of structural adhesive, similar to Liquid Nails. I used the tape since the dam was just black plastic(car was black) and I would need to paint eventually. The two screws were for the fenderlip. I either hit a cat, firewood, or possum and busted the dam. The next one I didn't use the tape after trying to peel that  off, and used equally spaced poprivets for it and the next couple. I hated how easy the ABS plastic was to shatter when hitting something, but then driving to work on mountain roads in the dark was always dangerous with the animals or junk in the road.
Try the tape first. You can always go back and install some painted screws or rivets.

Here's a trick I used. If you really want them to stay on, Use Eurethane adhesive, that they usually attach windshields with.  Works like a charm!

Where did you get the ground effects? Anyone know where I can get a complete set?

Outstanding.  Thanks all!!!

and Coug 86 89, I'll keep you posted, however my plan is to gather some estimates, and let a shop have the car for the winter so they can take a few months and get it RIGHT.  But if that is not too late, I'll holla.

I found mine on Craigslist.  I paid $300 plus shipping for the front air dam, 2 side skirts, and a rear spoiler.  I do not have the rear skirt.

I looked, and looked, and looked....... and looked some more.  You just have to be resourceful.  Never stop looking.  When they pop up, they do not stay for long.  So jump one em.

I also purchased a spare front air dam on ebay.  It is the only one I have found out on ebay, however.  It is one of the three piece ones, so I hope I never wreck the front of my bird and have to put it on.

Wickedbodies.com is pretty much the only place to get them.  They sell one for the 87-88; and say it fits the 83-86, but I wouldn't be so sure of that unless you find somebody here who has done it.  They want a mint for them, however.  I considered purchasing spare side skirts.... and then just the rear skirt.  Out of my price range any way.

Gotcha.  I'll try to post some before I head out camping and fishing today.  If not, check back on Monday.  I'll post pics of the one on my car.... and my spare front air dam.  Just for looksies.... not for sale.  :)

In the mean time, you can check pics of them on my car in the my rides section:
