Got the Cougar Stuck...

Was driving in the middle of the pines on these old pavement roads... Next thing u know it turned into sand lol , didn't know it turned into sand...  I was going thru it no problem till I tried turning around because I didn't want to drive on sand :S.....  I thought it was hard ground but it was a sand trap lol...  I was in about a mile in the sand trial aswell..

My cell wouldn't call out or anything so I was pretty much stuck and if I walked, it was over 10 miles of walking..  So I took the jack and got each tire up and put small logs going long ways under them.  Dug the front tires out then went rev and drove about a mile in pure darkness on this sand trial back to the pavement going backwards with barly any light..

My first time Getting stuck with the cougar Lol... Found it very fun lol...  When U have 2 wheel drive never stop moving on sand.. my lesson learned lol..

Dropping the tire pressure will help in sand as well.

Don't feel too bad. My Cousin and I were driving on Daytona Beach and even though the sand was packed down, he managed to get his wife's Civic stuck.

A few years ago I was looking for a lot to build a house on. It was early spring, when the frost is just out of the ground, and the ground gets VERY mushy. This was while the Volvo was in the shop getting its new engine, so I was driving the T-Bird. I was on this dirt road and I noticed the steering started to get squirrelly. Common sense should have prevailed, but I underestimated just how much of the frost had left the ground (I was thinking only an inch or two). I started going up a long, gentle slope, and the car started losing momentum. Then it stopped. I got out of the car and the rocker panels were almost sitting on the mud and there were two very deep ruts following the car. It took about an hour, sticking spruce boughs under the rear wheels and backing up a few feet, then sticking some more boughs under the wheels, and repeating ad nauseum, but I did get the car out on its own power. Almost the whole way home I could hear and feel mud splattering off the wheels into the fenderwells. I had to pressure wash the wheels to get 'em back in balance, and pressure washed the underside of the car while it was on the hoist at work (much to the chagrin of the boss, who didn't appreciate several hundred pounds of bright red, almost Prince-Edward-Island-esque mud in the floor drains...

And no, I didn't buy a lot on that road :hick:

I was once on Daytona Beach in my 78 Monarch just after they dragged the rake over it. I almost got stuck, but managed to get my car out. 1st and last time I ever took my car out on sand. I sold it later that year to by my cougar
