Re: cougar weights Reply #1 – March 09, 2005, 08:01:30 AM 2900#? Stock curb weight kinda depends on options and such. Curb weight on an 84 XR-7 is about 3100#.My 83 Tbird 2.3T 5spd with a cage, full interior, misc chassis bracing and 2 power front seats was 3250#(w/o driver). The stock seats/power tracks are probably 150-200# together. I'm going to be going to Recaros on manual tracks after the car is painted and ditching the rear seat, so that will save a few pounds. Re: cougar weights Reply #8 – March 09, 2005, 02:24:56 PM Exactly Chuck. And that's what's needed to be done to know for sure what one has, before gutting the car. Quote Selected
Re: cougar weights Reply #9 – March 09, 2005, 04:52:25 PM Just as a data point, a 1987 Thunderbird LX with a full tank of gas and one occupant came in at 3594 lbs. [Source] I believe Thunderbirds are slightly heavier than Cougars and '87s are heavier than '84s. Quote Selected

Re: cougar weights Reply #11 – March 09, 2005, 07:26:26 PM 1983 T-Bird Heritage with a V6 started at 3175 empty. In race trim, no P/S,A/C ect, it now weighs 3045, with 1/4 tank of fuel. Add 110 pounds for a 302 and what ever for a roll bar and that should give you an idea. Look up the original shipping weight given to the NHRA at their web page, NHRA.com. It's listed under TECH INFO/ Stock Car Classification, (HP X Power Factor = weight). Good Luck, Fred Quote Selected
