Ford reads the FTBCB Reply #1 – May 21, 2008, 02:40:35 PM It's taken a while, but Ford seems to finally be pulling its head out of its ass (although the mousy-blah Focus has been selling remarkably well).I was reading somewhere the other day that a new smaller version of the F150, possibly called the F100, will replace the Ranger (similar to how Nissan builds the smaller Frontier and larger Titan on the same backbone). This would help Ford continue its claim that the F-series is the world's best-selling truck, even though I don't particularly agree with lumping three completely different vehicles under one nameplate (F-100, F-150, F-Super Duty) solely to hang onto that title. They're also considering bringing the international version of the Ranger here, which is even smaller than the current NA one AND has diesel engine options. A mid-sized (around the size of a Dakota) F-100 and a new (but NOT larger) Ranger could be just the thing with today's gas prices. Quote Selected
Ford reads the FTBCB Reply #2 – May 21, 2008, 02:43:42 PM F-100 is supposed to be built here in Michigan at Michigan Truck. Reports from the engineers are all over the plant I heard.. Quote Selected

Ford reads the FTBCB Reply #5 – May 21, 2008, 04:55:47 PM Are you well? Have you seen our Focus lately? It's like someone took a Saturn Ion to a grinding stone and slapped a razor blade to the snout. "One of these Foci doesn't belong here." Quote Selected
Ford reads the FTBCB Reply #6 – May 21, 2008, 05:02:34 PM all i am saying is the rear end on that ST dont belong it breaks flow, not to mention if that first picture of the focus that you posted is an actual model(because it looks drawn to me) its ripping off of the evo heavily but i would still buy one. Ford reads the FTBCB Reply #7 – May 21, 2008, 06:17:17 PM Ripping off the EVO? You're young, so you may not remember, but that body style is what's called a "Hatchback". (*EDIT* never mind, I now see you were talking about the frontal shot). It's extremely popular on every other continent and even enjoyed a brief period of acceptance here in North America during the early 80's. Unfortunately Americans equate hatchbacks with econopoopsters (even though the Mustang GT and GM F-bodies were all hatchbacks). With fuel prices at record highs, the econopoopster image might finally be a good thing. The European Focus is superior to the American one in every way, including looks and refinement. It even has an extra cylinder (it uses the Volvo inline-5), and as we all know, you can never have too many cylinders. Hopefully Ford will bring the European Focus's higher performance versions as well - a 300 horse turbo 2.3 liter inline 5 would stack up just nicely against the Dodge SRT-4 and Cobalt SS (in a FAR superior package), and with AWD it would hang with the EVO and STI. Ford reads the FTBCB Reply #8 – May 21, 2008, 06:24:55 PM I also heard the smaller Ranger (w/diesel options) and mid-size F100. If those are true, that is a GREAT plan!!!It's about time they brought over the "good stuff" as well.Too bad there's grumbles about selling Volvo now (kiss the Taurus/X/Sable/MKX goodbye). Ford reads the FTBCB Reply #9 – May 21, 2008, 06:49:44 PM Not necessarily. If Volvo goes away, the next Taurus would probably be the European Mondeo. And somebody might actually buy one!!!!! Quote Selected
