Bumper restoration? April 15, 2008, 01:14:03 PM I recently purchased a TC bumper cover for my 85 Thunderbird. The guy said it was in good shape....... buuuuut, when I received the bumper, the gray/black bumper strip (that extends all the way around the car via moldings on the side) has some pits, gouges, and is rubbed off down to the yellow. Does anybody know if this can be sanded and filled in? I plan on taking my car into a body shop at some point to be painted.... but if I need a different bumper cover I'll start looking now. Hopefully professionals can fill it in some how...Your comments are much appreciated. Quote Selected

There is sandable bumper filler available to body shops (and parts stores that carry body equipment and supplies) that can be used to fill in the gouges and holes. Then it's just a matter of sanding and prepping for paint.
