Re: TC rear Reply #3 – March 01, 2005, 01:19:17 AM 8.8" axle with a 3.55 or 3.73 gear, Traction-Lok, and disc brakes I believe the auto's got the 3.55's and the manual's got the 3.73's. Quote Selected

I'm turnin' around 2400 at 70mph which ain't nuthing. Try running 4.30-4.56s without OD like we did in the old days. Can you say 3500-4000 rpms?? Your problem is gonna be the very short 1st gear. With most 5.0 T5s having 3.35 first gear, wound up tight you may get 25-30 mph in first out of a SO 5.0.... My guess is you'll be happier with the 2.73s. I used to have a stock 5.0 Stang with the 2.73s, they worked fine and it would run mid 14s all day long... Just tell everyone you have 3.73s, they will think you are cool and won't know the difference.. Quote Selected
Re: TC rear Reply #8 – March 05, 2005, 01:40:46 AM QuoteJust tell everyone you have 3.73s, they will think you are cool and won't know the difference..lol...its easy enough too swap back. i dont mind the 273s for right now. they are actually nice on the street. i do want the 8.8 in there so im thinking maybe 3:08 or 327s in place of the 373s. im most likely never going to run big slicks at epping if i even go up there so i dont think ill realy need the gearing. i think its a little over rated. its pretty annoying to have such a short 1st gear. had a turbo coupe with a 5.0 HO and a 5 speed but it had a 4 banger tranny. 1st was pretty much useless. Re: TC rear Reply #9 – March 05, 2005, 05:06:52 AM dont mean to hijack or steal the thread but i was just wondering, i bought a turbocoupe rear with the 373s a few months ago that should be goin in soon replacing the 7.5, what can i expect with the better ratio on my setup. just a reminder, its a '95 3.8 sc in an '88 ls with a recently rebuilt lsc aod tranny and new(shortened cuz of the new tranny) driveshaft. thanks Quote Selected
Re: TC rear Reply #10 – March 05, 2005, 07:15:04 AM Spaz.... The SC 3.8 will love the 3.73s. The AOD only has a 2:46 first gear, so us push-n-go(automatic) guys need plenty of gear to get goin'... Quote Selected
Re: TC rear Reply #11 – March 07, 2005, 10:51:55 PM really...i was hopin so, so i should notice the difference? ima try to get that in real soon then. i was at my mechanics today and he told me they caught a couple bone yard guys tryin to make off with it a couple times....they got it chained up now out back so i gotta get that in before they steal that shiznit Quote Selected
