TC Fog Light Mounting Question

Hello all.  I'm sure some of you have experience in this area...

I have an 85 thunderbird.  I want to make the front look like a Turbo Coupe.  So, I have purchased the hood, bumper cover, and fog light brackets... My only question for you Turbo Coupe gurus is how do the fog light brackets mount to the front bumper reinforcement?  Do I need to specifically find and purchase a bumber reinforcement from a turbo coupe, or will the one from my straight bird do?

Thanks in advance!!

You need the TC bumper as well.  It has cutouts and mounts for the fog lights.

You could get creative and mod what's there, but it would be easiest to just get the TC bumper.

Yeah, I have the bumper (bumper cover) with the fog light openings.  I will put ground effects over that.  I have the metal brackets coming from a salvage lot that hold the fog lights... but I do not know if the Turbo Coupe bumper reinforcement that goes under the bumper/bumper cover has predrilled holes or a different mounting for  the fog light brackets.... or maybe my straight thunderbird bumper reinforcement will work....

Make sense?  Not sure if I'm explaining it right....

Bumper does not equal bumper cover.  The bumper cover covers the bumper.  What you are calling the "reinforcement" is the bumper...and you need the TC one.

There are predrilled holes...actually, squares with bolt clips.

You can mount those brackets on a standard, non-turbo metal bumper core though. There's a ridge that goes across the underside which corresponds to "bumps" in the brackets. Once you line those up, the front/back distance is determined. It's then just a matter of side-to-side alignment which you can easily do with TC bumper cover on.

You will need to use good self-tapping screws but it can be done. As always, though, it's better to use the TC metal bumper core if you have it.

Coolio!  I will try to use mine to start.... sounds pretty straight forward.  I cannot find any TCs within driving distance . . . . and alot of the salvage lots will not ship.

Thanks for the tip.  I appreciate everybody's response.  This site has been a very useful place to find answers.  Especially for my baby.  I'll eventually post some pics, etc.

I have the car in the shop and they are putting the finishing touches on the install of my 351 windsor. . . . then comes the bumper, ground effects.... and hopefully the wifey will let me sping for a new coat of paint.....

I think if you have the bumper cover you'll probably be able to work something out. Might take a little custom work, but I'm sure it can be done.

Sweet, just found some metal clips of good size.  I can just drill an appropriate sized hole and use the clips and bolts.  I knew I saved this stuff for a reason.  And to think my wife thought I was secretly building another tbird at an undisclosed location.

Sort of like that song by Johny Cash... "One Piece at a time".  LOL.

thanks all.
