Is this worth the drive for a parts car?

It's about 2 hours north of me. I really just want it for spare parts. Trim stuff (molding emblems ect) only because the metal is, uh, fubar:flame: . I'm thinking $300 max, but I'd have to be high and or drunk to offer that much. I'm worried about it making it back to my house :hick: . If I got it I'd strip the good stuff and s the rest as I'm pretty sure that the strut towers and frame are rusty  anyways. Hell it's got a rust hole through the lower quarter :pbb:

My car has the whole lower quarter missing, its not rusted at the strut towers though.

You could sell the good parts you don't need.

Dealer, doubt you'll get it for much less than advertised...

Fr $500(even $300) I wouldn't walk across the street to look at that rusty turd(then I don't need the parts)...

I wouldn't even try to fix the thing. It's way too far gone I bet. With what salt does around here I bet that the strut towers are realy fubar. Hell it sits too high in front as well. I wonder why? Besides it's got a 3.8 as well :flame: . I've seen cars just like that at the wreakers and I could poke holes through the lower quarters and rockers with my finger. The problem is finding a 87-88 T-bird in py, rusty shape so I won't feel bad about striping it for parts "just incase" I ever need them. I wouldn't want to send a rot free car to the crusher.

The car looks pretty beat down to me. Plus it's only a 3.8L, with not many good mechanical parts to begin with.

What parts on it are worth anything? Not the motor, tranny, rear, sheetmetal, most of the interior, etc. If you just need some trim, spend the $20 and be done with it without messing with an entire car. Just my $.02 worth.

might have good tires. should be okay with the 3.8 though...

I'd pay $200 for it if it was close.

looks like a good hood, trunk lid and gas door.
glass, mirrors,speedo,switches, steering wheel, lights,bumpers.

I guess it depends what you need

My 88 T-bird doesn't need anything. I just want the stash of trim parts incase something ever happens. It's hard enough to find trim parts so I'm planing for the future, just incase. I rather buy an old clunker and strip it at my leisure than get stuff from the wreakers. It would probably be more cost effective anyways........if it was $200-$300;)

Plus I could save the AOD and build it up into a nice street/strip trans for my T-bird:D
