for a once a wash or once a month type wax I use Malco's Flash Wax. Very easy on and off and great results. It is a combo of Carnuba and Dupont's Xynol wax.

I've used Meguiars hi-tech yellow for years now and although it works...I don't know if its 100% coincidence that clearcoat problems only started forming after I started using their polishes and wax. The paint started failing (thin layer of powder on the top) which began making the clearcoat lift off the basecoat and break off.

Can't it even be, say, a "Cougar-curious" wax..? Just T-birds?

No, no, no. You can't put Cougar wax on a Tbird, it just doesn't work. :D

You guys are all wrong.  Remember, they're all foxes.  You need fox-chassis-wax.  I think Stout Inc. makes some.

Actually in the late 70's ford started experimenting with a new type of anti-synthetic bc/cc paint which had a microscopic layer of an oxidizing agent in between the two. When the inner layer oxidized to the surface (every month or so) all you had to do was buff it off with a soft cloth like regular wax and your car would stay shining like brand new. Ford used this painting system from 1983 to 1988 on Thunderbirds and canadian only Cougars. The problem you may be experiencing if your car looks like it needs to be waxed is the oxidizing agent eventually runs out. At one time you were able to purchase this agent from your local auto parts store and top it up via a resivoir opposite you blinker fluid bottle. Unfortunatelly during the 1987 inter-gallactic battles between ford motor company and AC/DC the formula was stolen by the evil german monkeys and held ransom for Jim Carrey's left testicle but since he gave his left nut to satan for an acting career years earlier (because he is a talantless hack) the formula was never recovered and ford discontinued use of the anti-synthetic painting systems in the fall of 1988.

Isn't that just to the left of the ler valve, a few inches from the flux capacitor..? :p

I'm not too sure about the ler valve and the flux capacitor, but I was always told that the blinker fluid bottle is right next to the radiator bearings.  :giggle:
