You have to change the bellhousing and the pedal assy.

Is the car a 2.3 or 5.0?  Might be useful info for those trying to answer your question.

i guess that would help.  I have a stock 88TC w/a4ld. the a4ld is on the ground. the donar is an 88 TC 5 speed. i am going to swap it all straight across but i didnt want to mess with a hydro clutch.  i am also canning the original braking system and getting a mustang type setup.

You would need a cable bellhousing.

If the clutch is working in the donor, you can swap the master/slave over w/o opening it up.
If you use the hydro clutch, you'll also need to swap out the steering column boot/bellows/seal at the firewall, as the mount for the clutch master is integrated in there.  You'll have the column down swapping the pedal assy anyway, so it's not that much more work.
Any of the 83-86 TC's or the 2.3L Mustang bellhousings wil work if you want to go cable.
