Puller vs. Pusher Fan

When I installed the front mount on my car, the '87 dual fan setup proved to be too big.  So I installed a 16" electric fan.  It hasn't been running hot, but it has been running "warm" in winter weather (above halfway up the guage).  I have it installed as a puller currently.  Would a pusher force more air through the radiator, making the car run cooler?

i've always understood it that a puller was more efficient than a pusher

I have dual 12" pullers with a fabricated shroud on mine...they work pretty good, except the car still heats up when you're creeping through traffic or whatever...but it wasn't any better with the stock fans, and I'd probably have to spend big bucks on a fan setup to fix that. I'm running cheapie ebay fans.

Yea I got mine from eBay too.  It seems to blow a good amount of air...

If it's getting up to halfway in 25° weather, won't it be running pretty hot in 75° weather?

Probably.

Sounds like you need a coolant flush, and possibly a new thermostat. When mine was overheating I used some of that super concentrated flush and it fixed it right up.

I bet you're right.  It also doesn't help that the IC is directly in front of the radiator...  Thanks!

I got 1 puller fan and 1 pusher fan car runs about 5-10 degrees hotter than it used to but its nice to not have the flex fan anymore.
