What should I offer for 85 cat? Suggestions anyone April 07, 2008, 05:44:27 PM Hi everyone,I've been patiently waiting to find me a cougar daily driver to go along with my other 2 cougars. One of my cars is across country in storage and the other is low miles so therefor I dont use them as my daily driver. I'v wanted something I wasnt afraid to drive everyday and worry about someone stealing, vandalizing ect. Tucson is very bad when it comes to theft.Well I stumbled across a pretty nice 85 ls. Its got 127,000 miles, v-8 and most the power options. The bodys in very good shape. It appears to have lived in az its whole life, no signs of rust anywhere from what I can tell. The underside is clean and dry. The interior looks to be in good condition. He has seat covers over all the seats so who knows what there really like. It's a nice gold color with tan interior. It has a few minor dings in the drivers door. Probably could be pushed out paintless dent repair style. The paint looks suprisingly good. The car was owned by an elderly man who was put into a nursing home. To pay for assisted living they took all his assets except the cougar. Soon after that he wasnt allowed to drive because of his condition so it's been sitting ever since december. As far as the guy I spoke to knows(the car is parked in a mechanics parking lot, he gets storage for it every month) there isnt anything mechanically wrong. He said the brakes could be replaced and it needs the usual tune up/oil change ect. The tires cant be to old, allot of tred left. SO heres my question. What do I offer for this beast? If it doesnt need anything major(as it appears at this early stage) whats a fair price? I'm not even sure the old man will sell but then again what good is it doing him right now! My other thought is I dont want to low ball him and intern upset the guy resulting in him not wanting to sell.ThanksDennis Quote Selected

what i thought Reply #4 – April 07, 2008, 10:03:24 PM Around $1000 is what I had in mind, so your guys input is right on as far as I was thinking. As for pics I probably can't get those very easily. It's in a gated parking lot with seveal cars surronding it. Once its moved I can get some. The next step is checking the mechanical. If that checks out alright I'll be ready to make an offer. Heres more on what I can see wrong. It doesnt have leather, theres for sure the usual wear on the door panels and interior from what I can see. The gray moldings around the lower half of the car have the typical chipping paint going on. The front right turn signal (amber lense) is busted. The window tint is bubbleing. It could use a real good cleaning/wax for the paint to look impressive for being original. Thats the jist of whats not good. Quote Selected

Old guy means you have a good chance of the panels being ok. Side trim, bah who needs it, or just paint it body color. I say DO IT! A grand should be good. not many people see a value in our cars. What should I offer for 85 cat? Suggestions anyone Reply #7 – April 20, 2008, 05:12:58 PM The owner finally got back to the guy who's storing his car. He's willing to sell however right now the money would go directly to the state to help pay for his assisted living. Therefor he's attempting to give the car to his son so if I buy it he could get the money. I'm not sure if the state will allow that, so I don't know whats going to happen. Im hopefull the owner will sell no matter what happens since its doing him no good just sitting around. Quote Selected
