Hmm... what is Ford up to...

I was just reading an article about how Ford's CEO seems to think Ford can weather a recession. Given its current product portfolio I can't see how, but in the article is this little gem:
Quote
Also during the speech, Mulally said a new Ford Taurus, once the best-selling car in the United States, is coming in 2009, although when asked about it later he said: "I probably said too much."
A new Taurus in 2009? Where did that come from? Could it be that we're finally going to get the Mondeo?

Turbo I6 Taurus? Maybe it will stand up to its name as a bull now!
I would wait in line for a turbo Taurus.

Ford's CEO also said a new Taurus sedan is in the process of being redesigned that the company hopes will be better received than the current model. The new model, which could come in the next year or two, is "the one we should've built originally," Mr. Mulally said during a speech at the auto conference here.

On one hand, props to Ford for not sitting on their laurels. It's obvious that "badge engineering" didn't work this time around, despite the 500's safety rating and quality.

On the other hand, I almost cringe at the thought of what's coming...

I sure as hell hope its not this

Yeah i know but i saw that and had to.

I hate to say it but i think the verve i saw at the autoshow is more likley to be a mondeo port than the Taurus.

Mondeo

Verve

I just noticed the rims on that mondeo are the same that were on the verve but i could not get a clear shot of the verve's side so i gave up and went on my way.

The Verve is smaller than the Focus, so no, it's not a Mondeo port. It's the nicest thing from Ford, intended for America as well, in a while, though.

I as well like the verve but it did not look like it was well received at the auto show.
