2.3 TC Mods Help Needed

Hey Guys,

After all the reading about the bov's I need to ask some technical questions. As much as I've read in these forums it appears that their are some very smart guys in here and have done many many more mods then what I'm trying. My hot rod buddys tease me about 'My Pinto' and I hope to show them just what the 'lil Pinto' motor will do in the end. My local ford nut whom did the maching work on the head tells me that with the parts I've added I can expect close to 300-325HP. That seems a little high to me but he's been collecting TC's and building them for years, and to be honest I havent asked him about these things I'm asking you guys because he doesnt believe in all the 'store bought' parts and never will tell me what to buy for my project so I just went along and grabbed what I liked and hoped for the best. All this turbo business is new to me as it's my first one and I'm lost. Need your help guys so I dont blow it right off the bat.

 First off
I just bought a turbo off ebay which has a Turbocharger Bypass valve installed onto it. Is this basically the same thing as the BOV?  I grabbed an 3row aluminum IC kit for the car and a BOV so should I still install the BOV even with the turbo having that valve on it?? See pic added

 Secondly,
I am using all MSD electronics, the ignition box is a 6446 (4 & 6CYL High RPM Race) model,8227 Blaster TFI Coil,  8473 Billet Distributor,8738 Soft touch rev control box and the harness that goes to my original coil connector, double platinum plugs, accell wires for now. Just wondering if anyone has used these parts before and are they worth the extra effort? How does all this affect the computer and what about the TFI plug I removed from the original distributor, does it need to be jumped or anything??  Will greatly appreciate any and all input on this stuff.

The motor itself has oversized stainless valves, dual springs, head's ported and polished to the max, roller cam, esslinger rockers, bob's log, 46lb injectors, 70mm throttlebody, 3" downpipe into 2 -2.5" dual magnaflows, ported upper and lower intake, braided lines on everything. 5 speed tranny, 3.73 gears, 5lug conversion w/large brakes

As for the computer I managed to get a few of them, my original (was aftermarket one), a LA version (which I cant find any info on), and a LA3. I'm not sure which one to try or use so I need help on this one as well.

A friend of mine gave me a brand new nitrous setup that came off a Harley, the guy rode it once and asked that it be taken off so it became mine for the asking. It's only a 35HP shot, 2 fogger nozzles and all the electronics. My local Ford nut told me to tap and install one of the nozzles under the upper intake just ahead of the 4 downward tubes which I have, the 2nd nozzle he says to put in the IC tubing just as it comes out of the turbo and is heading towards my intercooler so as to cool everything off. Then he mentioned buying this thing I think he called a 'hobbit valve'?? Claims it's used on diesels to regulate pressures, says to set it at 5-7lbs and when the turbo spools up and hits that mark it shuts off the nitrous to prevent catastrophe I guess?? :-) NOW this is really one I need help on.

Right now only the bottle and the intake nozzel is mounted as I'm awaiting the new turbo to button everything up and see if it cranks and how it run's.

Thanks Again Guys For The Great Site,

Music

I tell you to forget about the BOV you already have a BPV. They are mostly the same thing the difference is that the BPV reroutes the air back into the intake track. The BOV dumps the it to the open. You could run either one but with the VAM setup you might run into some idle problems with the BOV. Not to sure about the rest for now. Someone will chime in or you can do more searching over at turboford.org.

70mm TB? I can only imagine that part-throttle driveability with that is awful.
