my 1972 302 rebuild project Reply #8 – November 16, 2007, 11:39:48 PM Sure a fresh 306 isn't going to make noticably more power than a fresh 302 with the same parts, but it should make a bit more power than a worn out 302 bandaided together with new rings in a sloppy wore out bore lol. my 1972 302 rebuild project Reply #9 – November 17, 2007, 01:14:30 AM Outta curiosity, why use points ignition? Seems like a hassle for no reason.... unless you're in an older car and want to maintain the stock look. Even then, I'd go maybe with a Pertronix Ignitor.Depending on the heads you're using, a 30-degree backcut on the valves can do quite a bit. The article Car Craft did on this based the Ford testing on 351W DOOE heads. Take a look at the article. Quote Selected
