unfortunatly, more questions, but hooray, pics!

i read in jacassity's review/library thing...

"Also, the GT40 and GT40P heads run larger valves than the E7TE's and your stock heads, which may require you to flycut or just replace your pistons in order to have proper piston-to-valve clearance. If that's the case, then perhaps the E7's are the best choice for you. They are truely a dime a dozen, and easy as hell to find (all 87-96 5.0 F-150s, all 87-92 Lincoln Mk7's, and all 87-93 Mustang 5.0's have them standard). Very good performers too. I use the E7's on my T-bird. They can support a very good amount of power when ported. Best of all, they shouldn't require any flycutting of the pistons or expensive exhaust upgrades."

in there, it sounds like if i run my D0OE heads that i'll run into piston-valve clearance issues? supposidly these heads are very similar to GT40 heads. has anyone run GT40 heads with stock HO cam and SO pistons? i though that those heads would be ok as long as i didnt go more then a HO cam, am i wrong? also, since i got 351 heads and the 302 use smaller head bolts, where can i buy a sleeve to fill the gap between head and bolt? and finally, if i use larger heads, will 19# injectors be enough or will it be lean? would mas air be required? a good idea? or still dont need it?

sorry for all the questions,

keith

The PTV issues depend on the lift of the camshaft.

Use headbolts designed for aluminum heads on a 302, they have a larger shank on them to make up the difference.

Are you using an HO computer?

If you are using a Stock HO camshaft then You shouldn't have any issues with PTV.

yes, im using a regular old HO camshaft, 87 i think, but not positive. the heads are with a friend right now, he know a machine shop guy who can give me a good price, so i wont be able to actually check ptv clearance untill a while, and i'd hate to have him machine it and them not work. im using a computer from a 87 stang with a chip in it.

will these work? $100 sounds like an awful lot compared to standard headbolts in in the $50 range.

You shouldn't need to go mass air or any bigger injectors unless you go all out with a cam and intake.

I'm running GT40P heads and a .533 lift cam on 19 lb/hr injectors and have no lean issue.

Someone on here is running the gt40 heads w/the SO pistons they did state they were not milled though as for piston to valve clearance its always good practice to do a clay test but you will probably be fine.

Stock 40 psi. I do have a 155lph fuel pump though. Even when I get the GT40 intake and 65mm TB on I doubt that I will need to raise it as I don't think I'll be making more than 285 fwhp. According to the chart in this thread I shouldn't have to raise it: http://www.foxtbirdcougarforums.com/showthread.php?t=13859&page=3&highlight=fuel+injector+flow+chart
