Rear disc brakes clicking

I searched on this and I think it may be something to do with those thin pieces that wedge between the pad and the caliper, but I have one per side and that was all I could get in there it was so tight.

The problem is when I am taking a turn (even a slight turn will start it), the rear disc brakes click click click until I hit the brakes, at which point the sound stops. It started up after I banged out the old studs and drew in new long studs for the Weld wheels. I simply removed and reinstalled the calipers when doing this, but something must have changed when I did this. The brakes work smoothly once they are engaged, so I don't think it's related to any sort of run-out issue I may have created when doing the studs.

Any ideas on what to look for before I go in there and start inspecting?

It does sound like maybe the anti-rattle clips might have broken free a little bit. That is common...it happened every time I messed with the rear calipers. They just need reinstalled.

Guess what Eric?

I bought new caliper pins just because I remember the old ones being thinner due to rust. It turns out that the new part number 1F1Z-2V386-BA for the caliper pins works as a replacement for the now obsolete E7SZ-2B296-A caliper pin, bolt & boot kit & also obsolete caliper rebuild kit E7SZ-2L128-A. Also, the boots and bolts can be obtained using 1F1Z-2V321-CA. See http://www.shonutperformance.com/Brakes.htm

BUT! Guess what the real issue was?

Yes, the rivets came loose and the brake pad was rattling back and forth when I let off the brakes (look closely and you can see how far the pad is off-center in the photo). Off to get new pads now!

EDIT - I just noticed that AutoZone can order the herdware for the calipers for a lot cheaper - oh, well - I like the genuine Ford parts :D
