Haha yeah as if I dont hate that blindspot bad enough already!
Doesnt seem right to me. Gonna second the Dynasty comment
Theres just too much space between the back and the window....and then the shorter window = steeper bottom edge, *almost* vertical, which matches the vertical back and that doesnt go right for me.
I think one of the biggest reasons I like cars of the 60s and first half of the 70s is contrast. Where? Body and head/tail lights. Ive sat and thought about it before, and the bodies more toward the squared off side, and the old sealed beam circular headlights seem to go REAL well for me. I feel thats why late 70s early 80s boxy cars look so bland, because of sqaure lights too. I dont claim to know anything about style this is just my feeling. But contrast seems to help in a lot of things...different being the operative word...."it would be such a boring world if we were all the same" etc etc that old chestnut you can apply it to a lot of things that variety is a good thing and I think autobody styling cues fit the bill too. These cars seem to have a good mix of 80s boxy-ness and curves....and it must work...otherwise why would we love em so much?
The less vertical bottom edge of the quarter window just seems to complement that straight up and down back so well. I believe its been said on here or CoolCats that the buying public just ate up the '83 cougars even though 'zines were highly critical. Im not too surprised.
Gotta love photoshop! If I ever "git round to it" meaning probably never I want to take my quarter window and flip it vertically, Chevy Beretta-esque :hick: I dunno a close friend/car guy has a beretta and I think those are pretty cars. Thats what theyve got, I just feel like experimenting with it, I think they call that like a "design exercise" or something? I think it will be butt-ugly but...curiosity.....cant...resist!!!
Edit---Oh boy...I sat and stared at the "overhaul" scott gave me, I dont really know its tough....I kinda like the fattened up panel there....the look seems kinda more muscular...man it must suck to be a designer..."beauty is in the eye of the beholder". Im sure some people for some reason have an attraction to AMC Pacers. Good thing theres a lot of cars out there, something for everyone. Im curious to see what others think of the small window on the normally big-windowed car.
