If you believe in god this is pretty powerful stuff, if not you got to admit its still fairly intense for a church performance.

Wow, I am not impressed, I just got out of a relationship where this girl was uber Christian , and I am an atheist. She did not want to meet my catholic friends and did not want me to hang out with them. The reason churches across America have had to "Jazz" church up is kids see through the bullshiznit that is church not to mention its hella boring.

i actually like going to my church. but, mines pretty laid back for a church. i guess its a matter of opinion, religion, and the people who attend that makes a church boring or not.

I'm mormon but i don't go preaching it to others. people know i'm mormon and if god compels them to join, they will show an interest in my beliefs.

Not many grassroots Churches are like that around here. And fanatics come in all shapes and sizes. The most understanding people in my life, I met growing up in a Protestant church. A place I really enjoyed being, from childhood sitting in the pew to my teens playing bass up by the old piano. For the most part, these are good people (that applies to just about all religions out there).

I know the type you're talking about, though. All too well, and they're a drag. People are going to be who they're going to be, no matter what they obsess about.

But that video..... that was the cheesiest shiznit I've ever seen in my life. Cheese and Corn!!!!! I need to play some Smashing Pumpkins or something. Maybe some Bad Religion. :hick:

Did no one find that offensive? I'm not hardcore Christian (although turboranger91 probably thinks differently) but this seems like a fairly inconsiderate thing to say, considering the number of Christians in America and on this board for that matter. I don't mean to preach, but if Atheists are right, than nothing happens to us Christians and we probably lived a better life than had we had nothing to beleive in and drive us morally and emotionally. But if Christians are right, than Atheists are sent below and we spend Eternity in heaven. But 20th anny, I respect the hell out of you (no pun intended) in more than one way. I hope this doesn't spark arguments... But hopefully everyone takes the time to entertain the thought.

More and more people that consider themselves religious or 'devout' these days are totally full of it, from my personal experience. Either they dont actually follow the 'rules', or they pretty much just try to be supremacists of some sort, sort of like 20th anny's situation. Rarely do I actually see someone that actually follows their religion CORRECTLY and is basically OKAY with others beliefs.

I guess I could consider myself to be atheist as well, and I probably wouldnt be turned away from religion so much if they werent so full of these kinds of people, fanatics and basically people who turn it in their favor and such things. Or people who basically look down and consider others dirt for their beliefs. If theyre gonna feel that way about me, Im gonna feel that way about them, if not worse.

I am not a religious person, However I do try to be spiritual. I mentioned this earlier hinting then what I will say now, That little movie reflects my life in a nutshell. I was raised religious (denomination irrelevant for this point) by a very spiritual mother who passed when I was 9. I strayed from that spiritual path at that time passing blame at my loss onto this GOD. This left a hole in my soul that I spent the next 35 years trying to fill with toy's, drugs, alcohol, women, all I found was hopelessness. I never went to the point of suicide, but I was to the point of just wishing I would die and this miserable thing called "life" would be over.
It was then I took another look at this "spirituality" thing, possibly I was wrong so many years ago. The changes in my life since are indisputable, I believe in coincidence's but the the countless changes in so little of time is amazing if not miracles. The hole is gone, the hopelessness is gone, the wish for it to be over is gone. Answers to questions 35 years old, questions I stopped asking, and have forgotten years ago, have been answered.
Today I know only one thing
There IS a GOD.
Is he Jesus, Buda, Allah, Gomer, Barney...? yea ok, whoever you want him to be, I have no idea.
Is he Catholic, Mormon, Christian, etc,etc..? yea ok, whatever.

For all you bickering over who's right, who's wrong, there is, there isn't, if that, then this, etc, etc, remember, in this country we have freedom of religion. Each of you are entitled to believe as you wish. And you should freely do so

This is my experience.

I found the clip very touching. Thank you for sharing it.

Thanks, I posted this on three boards! I got a consistent response of "that’s cool and touching" from the first one. The second board was not as accepting; they went strait to making fun of the fact that the guy playing Jesus had a crew cut! This being the third place I posted it I can say you all stay calmer than most. Congratulations on not being a bunch of "keyboard warriors". Now let me tell you why I felt compelled to post this.
I too pretty much lived this video. I was a sad, lonely teen, who had no friends and was mocked constantly for being over weight and having thick glasses. I contemplated suicide many times and once actually tried. My parents decided I needed to start attending youth group at the start of the 8th grade. That’s where I found God, or should I say he found me. My life changed dramatically at that point, almost to the day. I have become a happy person with positive outlook on life. My story and my desire to help people have touched many lives around me. I have met many people that where at the point that I was when I tried to kill myself, and by the grace of God they listened to me. I have given council to a lot of people over the years and have never given up on one of the soles that ask for help. A good friend from childhood asked for help more than ten years ago. She went through a lot of bad stuff. Ended up as a cracked out stripper living in her satern in a Wal-Mart parking lot, until someone stole her car, then she moved in with her dealer. She lost almost every one she counted on, even her family turned there back on her at one point. But I never gave up, and as of last weekend she was married in the Church her father built, with the blessing of both parents. She is clean, happy and sober, and happily married to one of my best friends. I almost wept when I saw her in white. With out my faith in God and dedication to helping others through him, she, and many others would probably not be here today. I give all credit to God for the things I do because with out him, I wouldn’t be here to help these people. I would be in the ground, six feet under. I am not a fanatic by any means. I don’t force God on anyone; I don’t preach, persecute or judge. I haven’t been to a church in a year. I just use the gifts given to me, love compaction, and understanding to give people the chance to find Him on there own. And if they don’t, at least I tried.
