84 Lincoln Mark VII parts

I got in an accident this morning with my el cheapo (i.e. $550 purchase cost) Mark 7 so I'm pulling what I can before the weekend because the lot is going to junk it next week.

I pulled the seats, rear deck carpet, door panels, interior sail panels, rear seat belts, center arm rest, base gauge cluster, climate control box, some dash bezels, and some other stuff. I'm probably going to put this stuff on ebay some time in the future but does anyone here need anything off an '84 Mark?

I live in Westminster, Maryland. The car is in Sykesville, Maryland and will be taken to the junk yard next week. I don't want to ship large items so I can figure something out with the local guys for those. Pictures of color and condition before the hit: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2650998

The interior stuff is ok. Just the front is hosed. The doors are straight and everything on back is straight.

Tomorrow, I'm getting the rear lights, trunk lid, trunk carpet and whatever else I can.

The damage is in the front so forget the grille, headlights, fenders, hood, and bumper.

Does anyone know how to remove the large black plunger switch in the door jamb that's tied to the seat belts?

At least I was able to get about 8,000 miles out of the car. I bought it for $550 and the AC worked so I had it during the hot months, when I really needed it. Don't know what I'll do for next year though. I'm back to driving the sage green '85 now.

Remove the black cap part (it just pops off) and you'll see that you just need to make a quarter turn with the plunger. It pushes right through the hole then. You'll figure it out...not difficult at all.

Yeah, seem to be.  I was able to pull all those parts only a few hours after the accident.  I smacked the  out of an '07 Accord LEX.  I tried to avoid an accident but ended up in one anyway.  Too much to type out but I avoided rear-ending someone only to T-bone someone else making a left.  Their side air bags deployed.  They were in their mid to late 60s.  The guy was ok, the lady seemed to be ok but she went to the hospital to be sure which I think is a good idea.  I've got lots of coverage in case things get ugly.
That Mark 7 felt like a tank though - wow.  And straight as an arrow.  The doors, trunk everything still lines up perfectly.  Not a crease or wrinkle anywhere from the windshield on back.

So, I have basically one more day to pull parts.

If no one wants anything, at least let me know what you think I should pull that is easily removable.  I'm doing this in a body shop parking lot.  I want to save the good parts.

I don't know.  I have the build sheet though.  That's a big part to pull tomorrow unless you can meet me around 3 or so in Winfield.  It's along MD 26, east of MD 27 and west of MD 97.  Right near where MD 94 intersects MD 26.  You are in Mt. Airy, right?

That's a shame, Karl. I liked that car.
At least you don't have to worry about subtracting a vehicle from your fleet. Now you can drive the sage green with its hot-ass heater.

Yeah, I was just beginning to think about switching back to the green car this morning because it was a little cold.  The Mark 7 had a bypassed heater core.  Good AC, no heat.

Now the green car has killer heat, no AC.  I'm in good shape until May or so when it starts to get warm again.  That's when the sage car gives me the redneck sweat pattern on my back because of the vinyl seats.

Rear brake calipers?

Shoot me a PM or email if you're going to pull them.

How easy are they to remove?  If I don't need any special tools, I may have a chance.  I may have a problem with jacking it up though.  It's sitting on hard-packed rocks and dirt.

They are held on with 7mm allen bolts.

I don't need the brackets on the axles, just the calipers.  The hoses (the short ones) would be good to get if possible as well.

Just let me know.

Just to let you all know, I'm extremely relaxed about this.  I guess because the car was very inexpensive, I was able to get a good 8,000 or so miles out of it, I was able to get those miles during the hottest months and I had working AC, I never got around to cleaning it, tinting it, or spending any time on it, it had about 150K miles with the original AOD, and I never developed the enjoyment for the base 84 Mark that I thought I would have.  It was only "just a car" to me.  I think a nice 91 or 92 LSC SC would bring more enjoyment though.  The base '84 felt a little too "grandpa."
If there is a car in my fleet to get in an accident with, it was that one.  It wasn't like a 91 or 92 LSC SC, it wasn't any of my Cougars, any of the limos, the 300Z...
That sage cat that I'll be driving again is holding up good though.  That engine sometimes sounds scary (Zach has witnessed) but surprisingly, it keeps going.
These fox Cougars are very reliable cars.  Take a good fox Cougar that has been reasonably cared for, and it will continue to run with relatively few minor problems and/or maintenance.
Their only hang-up is the transmission - replace that and you're golden.  The Mark, while a good car, just didn't seem to have the same reliable, issue and quirk-free environment that the Cougars provide.  It seemed to be better than the Mark 8 though, that's for sure.  I'll probably have another Mark 7 in the future, just as I will an 8 but neither will be a daily driver.
