How do you get the window motor out? August 30, 2007, 11:34:38 PM I'll admit that i',m not the most mechanical person in the world, but i can't see how to get the winow motor out of the door to switch gears. my arms barely fit into the holes. hope this doesn't sound stupid, i am getting pretty tired of having to manhandle the window up and down. every mechanic i have talked to swears that iu have to replace the whole assembly, but i know they will just replace the gears and charge me for the whole thing. any help would be appreciated. How do you get the window motor out? Reply #1 – August 31, 2007, 09:20:01 AM Take off the door panel. Then take out the speaker in the door. You might have to drill the holes in the door for the tools to go through into the door. Either there are holes already or some dimples where you need to drill the holes. Once you have the holes then just take out the 3 bolts holding it in place. The unplug the electrical connector. Next pop the motor off of its mount and then pull it out of the door through the speaker hole. The install is the reverse of removal. It does help to have a magnetic tool to reinstall the bolts for the motor. Quote Selected

How do you get the window motor out? Reply #5 – September 27, 2007, 07:32:16 PM Follow the above link. Good Stuff. Just changed the motor on my 84 Thunderbird with the one from my 85 cougar parts car I have and took about half hour to remove both and replace. Not that hard. Quote Selected
