Courtsey light won't turn off?

On my '84, the passenger door courtsey light never turns off. Where is the relay for this thing?

Thanks!

in my shop manual, im only seeing a door switch in line with fuse 8.  when the door switch is made (door closed), the light on the door itself should go out.

is this what you are talking about?

Maybe? I found a wiring diagram on the net a while ago, which I now can't find again, which referenced a relay somewhere that controlled the courtsey lights over the keyholes. I guess it was supposed to be a timed dimmer or something?

Sounds like you have either "Illuminated Entry" or "Keyless Entry" feature. If it is Keyless Entry, you will have the buttons on the drivers' door.

There is no relay. There is an electronic module that turns on the key lights. There is a switch operated when you lift the door handle that activates it.

Does the driver side key light come on when you lift the door handle?
Do the interior lights also come on?

Let me know which feature you have and I will try to post the correct diagram tomorrow.

ok,, keyless entry is the same process as non keyless for lighting except the keyless entry module controls on and off.

its helpful to know its keyless entry.  Either way,, you see to have constant power coming from  the wiring after pin 12 which is the issue.

do you have any sterio wiring or such that might be causing feedback?

i would do a wiggle test on the wiring leading to the door lamp with the panel off and door closed.  somehow you would have to leave it all hooked up and have the panel in place but be able to reach in beind there and whatnot.
