A/C conversion help!!!!

what parts do i need to convert my a/c from r-12 to r-134 and also what year cougars and thunderbirds had r-134 a/c setup so i can get used parts from a salvage yard for cheap and some brand new parts too.
84 el camino ss-daily driver(efi mild sbc,2004r, posi 3:42 rear.)
84 mercury cougar v6- was a v6/ nitrous drag car, going back to mostly stock
81 chevy malibu-protouring/  drag car.( efi sbc supercharged 283 that will rev to the moon, 2004r, 4:11 posi rear)

I think it is mostly seals and what not that need to be changed, along with a purge of the system itself.

You are SOL on junkyard parts to convert to r134a...  r134a wasn't a standard until 94.. 93 for Honda..

They sell a kit at napa that has both thread on fittings,all the o-rings and pag oil.
Not sure on the price but i've used them a couple of times with great succsess.
If they try and sell you a reciever dryer it's not necessary to replace it even though they may tell you it is.
I have run it with the stock dryer and all worked well.

Basically you need the adapter fitting that go on the R12 fittings. They recommend new o-rings might as well they are cheap. They next best thing would be to replace the orifice tube with and auto adjusting unit. Then it would work best if you put in a 94-95 stang R134a condenser. Don't forget to get all the old R12 oil out of there as it doesn't mix with the R134 like it should.
