MELBOURNE, Australia — Ford Australia has announced that its Falcon will have a new V6 engine in 2010, the Duratec 35, also known as the Cyclone, which went into production in the U.S. late last year and is already in use in Lincoln-Mercury's MKZ. That news lines up with the announcement that Ford is stopping production of its inline six-cylinder engine in Australia.

I will mourn for you, Barra.

I agree they shouldn't have stoped production of the I6.

What is shagier that an I6 that looks like this?

One with a big turbo hanging off the side of it.

...An I6 that looks like that, mounted between the fenders of a four-eyed Fox 'Bird, that's what's shagier. Get on it, Chuck ;)

Sad to see that engine go away, but at least it seems like the replacement is respectable. I've not yet heard a bad thing about the so-called "Cyclone" (never heard it called that, it was always the Duratec 35) engine. I mean, it starts at 250 horses and goes from there - some are saying a 415-horse twin turbo version of it is forthcoming, so the loss of the Aussie engine isn't a TOTAL loss.

I'd bet Ford will be replacing just about all of their six cylinder engines with the Cyclone/Duratec 35/whatever, including the 4.0 SOHC V6 in the Mustang, the 3.0 i-6 in the Volvos the 3.0 Duratec in the Mazda 6/Fusion and Jag, and the Esshag 4.2 in trucks...

I know, I know.....At least the donor shortblock is out the car and on the stand.  Now if I could get some other things in my life sorted I'd be able to move forward.

What's shagier? That engine w/ a turbo and MegaSquirt mounted between the fenders of a 4-eyed Fox 'Bird. ;)

I actually have to find another I6 K-member as the guy who bought my '80 Z7 took it with the I6 K-member as he's planning on installing that very engine shown above in it.

Thats the engine my friend picked up and is installing in his Fairlane with a hybrid t3/t4 on it. I'm not sure what else he has planned for it though.
