Insurance

Hey guys since the bird will be hitting the road soon....I wanted to find out what insurance companies you guys have had the best time with when it comes to insuring tbirds (or cougars). I was hoping to sign up with grundy insurance, but as it stands right now they will not take any vehicle that isn't fully restored and unfortunately mine is only halfway restored. The only thing stopping it from being fully restored are the paint and the interior, which I will be getting to in time. I'd like to get at least 7,000 worth of coverage on it so that in the event of an accident, theft, tornado etc I would be able to go out and purchase a non rusted thunderbird and swap in an h.o. v8 and all the other goodies I've installed.

I have Esurance and yes I have had to file a claim already with them. I pay $125 a month for full coverage on a 2000 Caravan and 1996 Thunderbird. I have no tickes and the wife has one for an accident.

I filed my claim on a monday and had a check in hand by thurday the same week to get the car fixed. They also have a section where you can get more coverage for aftermarket parts and audio components if need be.

I just switched to Geico and saved 600.00 a year over Farmers on my T/A.  Back when I had the bird, Farmers only charged me 74 a month for liability.

Out of the collector car insurance companies will any of them insure a driver under 25 (I'm 22, well almost:hick: )? I haven't been able to find someone who will and I'd like to insure the T-bird for atleast $8,000. As of now I have full coverage with Allstate but I doubt that they'll give me $8,000 if something happened to the T-bird. I have one ticket (not on my record because I took the traffic safety class) from two years ago for speeding (42 in a 35) and that's it.

Lewis, Grannysbird, first off, if you ever had a ticket and it's not showing on your driving record period, don't volunteer that info. The wife and I pay $176 and change for;
full coverage on our 00' Durango ($500 ded) and 93' Tempo ($250 ded),
garage liability on the Bird,
our home insurance,
Life insurance for the 3 of us.
That's is thru State Farm. My wife's grand parents had the same agent for 35+ yrs. My wife has also been insured by them since she was 16 and I've been with the same guy now 6 yrs. My driving record was garbage before I quit driving semi's. Granted, I've been stopped for speeding 3 times since then, but I've only got warnings.
Also, whatever company you go with, they should have "Replacement Value" or "Agreed Value" and don't be afraid to ask about "Rider" programs to cover added items such as aftermarket electronics and cd's/dvd's. I learned the hard way on that one :(  Well now that I've thoroghly boored you all...... I'll quit yakking

Forgot something guys, about those collector car companies, I too checked into Grundy and was told also that my car had to be completely finished and no other mods planned. It had to be appraised by one of their agents and then we would decide on an "Agreed Value" of the car. Some of the other companies told me too that I'd only be able to drive the car to special events and No more than 2500 miles in a year. I never thought to ask about Grundy about young ages though.  Well Good luck guys. Find a good company and stick with them.

Hm I'm going to have to ask around and find out who will:
1. Insure me with a collector car because I'm under 25
and
2. Let me continue to modify the car.

I might have to talk to my insurance agent and see what he can do. Oh and I haven't told anyone about the ticket. I was just saying that I have a clean record that's all:D .

Oh and my name is spelled Louis not Lewis;) . Don't worry people screw it up all the time. :D
