My fabbed hood scoop baffles

I had a problem.I have a TC hood,and a 5.0,so,no ducting for the scoops.I have polished valve covers,steering bracket,intake,alternator,and other parts under the hood.When it rains,the water is thrown all over the engine leaving it looking like .The answer,baffles.I figured out what I needed using a piece of carboard as a mock-up,then used that as a pattern to make the real ones.I got some sheet aluminum I had in the garage,and fabbed up these baffles.They are great.They mount to the hood using the nuts on the back to hood scoop studs,so,they are removeable.I didn't want anything permanant because when my friends and I attend local car shows and events,I may choose to remove them so the polished intake and whatever can be seen while the hood is down.Pay no attention to the multicolored hood,it's going through bodywork to get painted soon.What do you think?

Necessity is the mother of invention,right?And hopefully,as soon as I get the engine work done (cam,Mass Air,heads),I'll have a prettier color on the car besides that.......whatever it is I have now.

man, if you went that far, you could have made some air "channels" to your airbox or something. :D looks good!

Pretty cool. I'm considering putting high intensity white LED's in my hood scoops if I use the TC hood. I had actually started to do so with my '87 Sport but sold the car before the project was finished (still have the lexan templates)

I have other plans for the air intake.I'm going to get a March (or equal) ram air kit for a Stang and mount it in my bumper where it can't be noticed.Updates as they happen.

I was going to do that too.  Could have been pretty easy.

That is cool! It's a good thing it doesn't rain much in Oklahoma though, heheh.... ;)

I have the same problem with my cowl hood. It sucks water as far forward as the radiator. I just clean the engine compartment after the rain stops. PITA!

We had rain for 23 days straight,none for the past 4 or 5,and now the forcast shows rain from Tuesday to Saturday.We usually don't get rain,but for some reason,we've had our share of flooding,etc.It'll be nice to not have to clean the engine all the time after I re-detail it after the new heads,and other pieces go on.Simple fix.

Vinnie that's awesome. It's the one thing I have yet to do since putting on the TC hood. I just couldn't figure out how to block off those scoops. Sweet!

I  did the mock up in cardboard and tape,once it fit right,I traced it onto aluminum,got the Dremmel and cutoff wheels,and went to work.Once the outer shape is cut out (measure a few times),I made score marks about half way through the aluminum where the bends would be,and bent the tabs up and around for the actual baffle (or block-off).sanded,primed and painted.Looked like I bought them (my opinion).If anyone wants to make therir own,I'll be glad to give measurements.It's time consuming,but worth it.Once the hood is painted,and the engine detailed,these baffles will definately look factory.I may stamp a fake Ford part number on them (one number different for left and right).I love doing this kind of stuff.Although I'm changing a lot of things,I want it factory appearing when I'm fifnished.Thanks for the props guys.If you guys like it,I know i did good.We're a pretty picky bunch sometimes,and we all are often brutally honost.So,thanks again.
