That story made me think of my first experience with a Turbocoupe. It was 1987 and I was at a Ford dealership in North Dakota. They had a brand new 1987 Turbocoupe in the showroom with only 15 miles on the clock. It was black with raven leather and I thought "this is the most amazing car I've ever sat in." Too bad it stickered for around $19,000 give or take and I was in the military living in the dorm and only making a little more than a hundred bucks a week at the time. I didnt think I'd ever afford one but in 93 I was able to buy a used 87 TC that was black w/raven leather. The car has long since been stripped and crushed but the interior and full suspension live on in my 87 Sport.
