stock v8 302 motor question

:cougarsmily:what is different on the cougar & thunderbirds v8 302s compared to the mustangs high output 302s. since i am having to decide on a new motor for my cougar since my v6 is on its last legs. so before i buy a motor i want to know a little background on the v8s since i was just into the v6s. out of these motors which one would be the best for  the swap a thunderbird turbocoupe motor or a mustang ho 5.0 or a 2000-2003 cobra motor be the best choice?:cougarsmily:

1st off, there's no such thing as a 2000 cobra, except the cobra r. 2nd, your comparing apples to oranges when comparing a 2003 cobra motor to any other motor. though its not a practical swap. me personally, i would go with the mustang HO motor, or a junkyard 351w(if you have a pre-EFI cat). read up on coolcats.net for the differences in the mustang and t-bird/cougar 302.

Get a HO from a stang. You can have it in and wired up in a weekend. Even faster if ya get a carb

neither is 'better' than the other.. it's basically just a personal preference. EFI can be a pain in the balls just as much as a carb.. but in my personal opinion, carb<3:D .

THe compressor itself is a W140AX.  It displaces 2.3 liters.

Would it even be worth it to throw on a mild supercharger on my 88 T-bird 5.0?.  The motor is stock now.  I want to have a faster car without changing the engine (atleast for now because my engine is in awesome shape).  Would a mild bolt on supercharger be worth it and how much would performance be improved?.  I want a stock looking car that really surprises people.  I've seen 5.0 supercharger for like 2-3 thousand that are basically bolt on with some minor mods.  I'm contemplating this or doing the 5.0 H.0 swap, but I still want a little faster car than a 5.0 H.0 will give me.  NOBODY even say "do a 5.0 H.0 Swap and then supercharge it"  I don't have the money for all that.:punchballs:

your stock SO motor cant handle a supercharger. the connecting rods are too weak.go with the HO swap.  maybe a electric super might work.

Your stock motor can't handle a SC, but it's not because of the rods... They are identical to HO pieces...

To handle a super charger you really need to upgrade to the HO cam, exhaust system(true duals with headers), injectors, EEC, upper intake and throttle body... Everybody will start yelling heads as well and it would be a good idea, but not absolutely necessary... The Super Charger kits are designed to  be used with the HO 5.0, not the anemic SO the Birds were stuck with...
