FS: 87' Thunderbird sport coupe

aside from some tlc on the body it'd come out a great car. its got 5.0l on an aod with open differential 7.5 rearend. the cats have been gutted and it has a single 50 series flowmaster with a nice chrome tip. the interior has a cracked dash, a few screws missing (most liekly in the floorboard) and the flor shift button is eliminated. the parking lamps in the fenders have been deleted. the interior has to my knowledge the full lighting package. it has a full and working digital dash. the A/c doesnt work, but heater works perfect. all you need is a gasket kit and recharge the a/c system and it works with the optional digital climate controls. the radio is the stock head unit with rewired pioneer front and rear speakers. with an aftermarket headunit they really accel. since this is my daily driver i feel could be a very good canidate for a restoration. at the moment it has 195 75B 14's on the front and 205 70R 14's in the rear. (long story dont ask) this car is a reliable car but you have to monitor the transmission and oil levels on a routine basis. i dont belive in any type of chemical stop leak fixes, b/c chemicals dont fix cars, mechanics do. this is really a light mechanics special. i put pictures of the car in the following thread, and since i have deleted the unsightly missing trim infront of the front wheels (which in the pictures has ductape over the holes) you could witht he fenders on the car restore the corner/parking lamps and the wiring for such is still intact. picture thread click.

No offense man, but that is FAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRR from a $3k car...maybe a $600 car...while these cars are very special to all of us, nobody will pay that much for a run down beater.

no offense taken, I figured as much, im almost willing to let it go for around 1500 b/c i can get a bike for that much. if not have money left over to fix the bike up a bit. the body is the worst part, everything else is worth the money tho. the only thing run down is the brakes, body, and dash.the trans slips a tiny bit. i mean hell, its 2007... my car was assembled in feburary i belive so its 20 years old and SHOWS its age. i dont think putting it on any other ford forum or autotrader would do any good... so i thought i'd go fishin on a site where the cars are worth something to people. its like goin fishin with corn..... if you get my buttstuffogy.

I dont see you getting $1,500 for it either. That's how much mine was when we bought it. It had/has virtually no mechanical bugs, very few minor body issues, etc.

ah well, i guess im ganna have to deal with the brakes going so south that ill prolly have to replace the rotors, calipers, and pads. tape the right rear tailight so it stays put. deal with 195 bias ply tires... i dunno before i can save up the money on top of my bills, im ganna have to dig this car's grave. crush it and what not. i'll prolly sell the 302, b/c there are no mechanical bugs in the engine, the trans just slips (although i can still get 22mpg) this car has started climbin the stairway to heaven. someone play taps please?

As far as the trans, I wouldn't be suprised if it was as simple as a valvebody gasket(fairly common)...that was the problem with my old T-bird...I bought a B&M shift kit and in an afternoon it was good as new.

For what it's worth, I paid $1600 for my '88 Cougar XR-7 and it has the HO, a T-5, factory 8.8 with 3.08 trac-lok, 10-hole wheels, nearly mint red leather interior and I still feel like I got screwed. I've had to go over so much on this car to get it closer to being "right", and the body is in much better condition than yours.

I think it would be in your best interest to keep the car and put a little into it here and there...I don't think it would take much to be a nice car again. Either way, good luck!

ytou know, i think i might save up some money and drive a bike over the summer months till i save to put into the bird. not only will i be saving money on gas at 3 dollars a gallon, but i think i'd have fun on it. i've ridden countless bikes in the past, and to be honest my biggest money saver idea was to convert a 4 stroke 450 SX bike over to a street bike. theres a custom bike shop down the road, i could get them to either modify the tree for wider front tires and the forks for wider rear tires. but mostly what i was thinking of was just changing the sprokets around a bit, adding a larger rear tire, of course the blinkers lights etc to make it road legal and get rid of the bies for some real street rubber to go on the bike. i can get a used bike for a couple hundred dollars and honestly it could turn into a double duty bike.

A car is only what someone else thinks its worth,,I sold my 87 5 speed HO xr7 for 4,500..Sure it was nice but not perfect
