rearend help

hey guys. looking for a bit of insight on what rear end i can fit in my 87 non tc bird.  i no a fox mustangs 8.8 is 1.5 inches shorter than the birds but what about other 8.8's and how about 9 inches. is there any thing that will go in with little hassel and not make the tires stick 4 feet out?  i plain to beat the hell out of the fenders with a hammer and get some huge meats under there. thanks for any help.

if you plan on running like a 10"+ wide rim, id stick with a 79-98 8.8 housing with 79-93 length mustang axles.

I'm using an 8.8 Mustang rear.I wish they had 10.5 inch 4 lig Cobra R wheels to go with them. The 8.8 is a bolt in,and really strong.

I had an '89 'Stang 8.8 in my t-bird...Stuffed 265/50R15's on 10-holes and it just looked right(nevermind the fact that the tires were WAY too wide for the y 7" wide rim), very well centered in the wheel well.

I have 17x9's on my car now (Cobra R),and like I said,if I can ever find a 10 inch 4 lug Cobra R,I'll have a pair.As far as I know,they don't make them,and I'm not paying the huge bucks to have mine widened.I looked into pricing,WOW !!!

I have an 84 cougar, with a 351 w. I have went threw 2 rear ends and really need to get a 8.8 or some thing!

An old ford guy told me to make my own! He said to find a 9 inch that was the same length as my 7.5. Then to cut the mounts of the old one and weld on to the new one! Said make sure that what ever degree my transmition end is at to put thr rearend at the same messurement(but opposite) so if my tranny was at 33 degrees down then the rear end needs to be 33degres up! Is this correct?
