v6 headers, air intake Reply #15 – May 09, 2007, 10:59:46 AM Quotepaulif you are serious about doing this and are researching it, i can share with you what i know to date. 304 772 4082.Oh, I am. The issue is finding a good body 83-86 T-bird. Getting it to run won't be the issue for me. My biggest concern is inside the car, the guages and dash cluster. Also, do the 4 eyed birds give signal to the speedometer through a VSS?I won't be ready for it until at least this time next year.My plan so far is:83-86 T-Bird 3.8 AOD car--Most preferably an '854.2 V6 dual split port motor.Return style fuel systemWiring harness and ECU from a 1997 F-150 with 4.2 and manual trans.Relocation of IAC for hood clearance (it may clear in stock form, but I doubt it. I have to find out.)The dual split port 4.2 setup is rated at 205 HP and 255 TQ for model year 1997-2000. In 2001 It's rated at 202/252. I'm unsure the reason for the 3 HP/TQ drop that year; a slight change for emissions possibly. To top this all off with a good exhaust, 3.73 gears, and 1.8 ratio rockers would make for quite the sleeper. It'd be different; that much is for sure. Done properly I don't see why 14's aren't possible. High 14's, but still 14's.Jeremy B's been researching this idea as well. Hopefully one of us will manage the time to get it done. This year I've laid out a lot of coin on the Mustang and the wife says that's it for now. I like living in the house considering I pay for it. I just have to be patient. Quote Selected

v6 headers, air intake Reply #17 – May 09, 2007, 12:04:12 PM If it's CFI, just measure the diameter of the air cleaner for the filter size. I *think* it's 14x3" that I used but not sure. I don't even think K&N makes an intake kit for CFI. I know that I've heard that you can use ay fox K&N intake/air tube setup on the EFI v8's though. Quote Selected
v6 headers, air intake Reply #18 – May 09, 2007, 12:06:30 PM You'd have to either get a frisbee type one for a carb or CFI OR get creative and custom fab something like a carb bonnet that would accept a CAI. For that much work I would make sure I went with a fenderwell type kit. Quote Selected
v6 headers,air intake Reply #19 – May 09, 2007, 03:41:38 PM Paul: The 85 and 86 four-eyes use a VSS for the speedo. 83 and 84 use a cable. Quote Selected
v6 headers, air intake Reply #20 – May 09, 2007, 05:27:18 PM Get the harness from an 88 .. It would be easier to modify it then splicing in just the injector harness to yours. Quote Selected
