O.K.,here's how to do it.....remove all of the smog equipment, even the tube on the back of the heads.Plug the holes on the back of the heads, plug the vacuum lines, remove the tube from the smog pipe to the exhaust, seal that tube on the exhaust.Buy a short belt and call it good. You don't need a smog pump eliminator, but if you buy one,it'll save you from having to buy a new belt.Either way, you'll spend a little. The belt is cheaper, though.

I haven't seen o a 5.0 in our cars, but in the Vic, the AC and the Smog are on one belt, then the rest on another. WE just pulled the belt, remobed all the smog stuff and the AC when we where there and called it done. Is this even remotely close to what to do?

yeh i talked to my dad about it, and he said something about, i think the word he used was either brazed or saudered.  Im not liking the sound of that.. can those methods actually work with the temps and the pressure?

I just put a bolt in it and drove to my friend house and had him weld it in place.

It's really no big deal at all.I've seen people flatten the tube that's left on the exhaust and just fold it over.It really doesn't matter as long as you seal the hole, and that's just so you don't have that py exhaust leak noise.

oh ok its a small hole, hell i can do that my self over at my uncle's.  he's got just about everything you'd need.  im diggin the bolt idea b/c that seems the easiest.  the bent pipe idea is good too.

Not to steal this thread, but I was wondering how you guys routed your belts without the smog pump. There appears to be 2 ways that it can be routed. One is similar to the factory routing in which the p/s pump is on the "tight" side of the belt and the w/p is on the "slack" side of the belt. The other way is by routing the belt so that w/p is on the "tight" side of the belt and the p/s pump is next in line. The last method seems to fit the best, but I'm concerned about the w/p bearing durability.  Anyone been running either of these setups for awhile?

on the 5.0 i dont know what replacement belt you'll require.  By now, most people have to basically cypher the part number and guess it.

To plug the holes in the heads you need plug thingers from a Ford dealership.  They cost like 50 bucks.  Or you can try messing with bolts or something, maybe you can find one that fits.
