Remember our 84??

We had taken it to my brother's because he was going to fix it and get it running again. He wanted to let his daughter drive it, but she doesn't have a license yet.
So, he calls me just now and says if we know anyone who wants to buy it, let him know. (Uh, it's still titled in MY name).  So, I asked him how much he needs for it for the work he's go into it.... $500.... that's the engine, exhaust, brakes and rotors.
He said it fires right up and runs good... and will pass inspection w/ no problem.... there is a rusted out spot on the trunk lid that needs fixed and it needs a new ignition switch which runs $25.

So, do you all think I should give him the $500 and get it back?

Dakota wants it so badly, and we had promised him that it would be his eventually, but that was before the engine blew and gave us all the trouble.

Um...YES!!!

So after the ignition switch, it's all fixed, totally? Nothing left to do? It can run, drive, everything is safe?

That's a pretty good deal IMO. I think you'd kick yourselves if you didn't get it back. See that, it's just meant to come back to you. ;)

Well, I just talked to Roger and he said Hell YES we are getting it back! LOL
We aren't telling Cody yet though. Roger has to get the work done on it before it can be put on the road for good.

Hey Gary!! Uh.... ya wanna help Rog work on it? :D

Eric, the brakes and rotors need to be put on, and the exhaust. The ignition switch should be the only other thing.

ANd the best part is... I don't break my promise to my son!! I have never never broken a promise to my kids.... and it killed me that this would have been the first one.
BTW, Cody will be 16 in 2 weeks. LMAO!! Happy Birthday kiddo!

What a deal.  I took my Kat off the road this past 1 1/2 months to get fixed.  But it didn't quite cost me $500, although it was pretty close.

Transmission: $1800
3 Catalytics  : $638
4 O2 Sensors/throttle body: $818

Grand Total:  $3256

On the plus side, the Kat runs purrrrfectly.

LMAO Victor! You're a nut!

Hey Gary.... I'll have to ask Cody about that.... his favorite color is purple.....well, black more than purple....but it's the only other color he'd think of.
Ed told me the color that our brother used on it...it's Raspberry Candy Apple. So, at least I know what to get if Cody decides to keep it red.
We finally told him about it the other night.... he was grinning ear to ear! But, the deal is, it's in my name till he graduates. He has to keep his grades up, and  get a job to help pay for insurance, gas and upkeep on it. He also has to help with the work on it.

Oh, hey Gary, this would be an opportunity for Hunter to learn some of that auto body and painting!!

We do plan on bringing it to CJ this year, it may not look pretty but we plan on it being there. We told Cody he can drive it (with one of us of course) , if he gets his permit. He has the book, he just has to study.

Hmmm... I found a line from a song that suits this car....with a slight word change LOL

"I've been dropped out, burned up,
fought my way back from the dead
Tuned in, turned on, Ready to be painted again"

:rollin: :D
