*sigh* alright. my dad bought it in 1998, with 70,000 miles on it, for $5000. although is that really that bad? with that mileage, and it being only 11 years old thats probably normal, right?
i gotta talk to my mom and see what he thought about it at the time. but even if the price was a little high, he was desperate for a thundercat. he bought brand new in 1987 a thunderbird EXACTLY like thunderjet302's. totalled it like 2 years later when someone sitting in a turn lane with his wheels turned was rear-ended, smacked right into my dad as he was going by. that was the story he told my brother and i several times, to "NEVER sit waiting to turn with your wheels turned."
he had a couple ford tauruses from GE as company cars. he liked them. then he moved to a Power Systems from I&SE and that didnt include a company car. he tried but couldnt find a tbird, and he really missed it. this cougar was right near home and the closest he could find. had the v8, and the special anny. edition helped the decision too. he really loved it. he always told me he was gonna put a Paxton supercharger on it. that or "well make a stroker motor out of it".
my mom always says dad's "tu-tone tbird" was his pride and joy.
what can i say, im not surprised, after reading coolcats over and reading about everyone's experiences with these things on here, these things are just flat-out GOOD CARS. nothing more to say.
