taillight tint January 18, 2007, 07:15:40 PM has anyone ever used that VHT Niteshades tailight tint or does anyone have any better ways of smoking the taillights? Quote Selected
taillight tint Reply #1 – January 18, 2007, 07:55:13 PM I've used VHT Niteshades on about 10 cars so far. I love it.The biggest key is to make sure the surface is absolutely clean. The slightest bit of wax, grease, or even a fingerprint will make the paint "fish-eye," which is painfully obvious due to the translucent properties of the paint. Two to three coats provides a nice smoked effect.Three to four coats provides a blacked-out effect. taillight tint Reply #3 – January 18, 2007, 09:32:13 PM You can clearcoat them, yes. I didn't.I waited one month and used a light polishing compound, then a carnuba wax. You can see your reflection in them. Quote Selected

taillight tint Reply #5 – January 19, 2007, 12:13:40 AM You could always spray clear lacquer over it, that's what I plan to do anyway. Quote Selected
taillight tint Reply #6 – January 19, 2007, 12:52:52 AM this is your car and all so i dont mean to critisize. to each thier own. but one feature i love about my car is how my tailights were blacked out factory... to me, in my opinion, smoking the lenses is a bit much. but i also acknowledge that a blacked out car could look good with smoked lenses. as far as my car i'd just do the blinker mod to the tailights. thats about it. but yeh thats just me. and yeh, as long as you make sure nothing contaminates the surface, it should come out perfect. taillight tint Reply #7 – January 21, 2007, 07:45:30 PM You may want to check the laws in your state on tinting your tail lights. Alot of states have made that illegal, that is why you don't see very many people do it anymore. Quote Selected
