Blue Max striping December 25, 2005, 02:40:05 AM Ok, this looks to me like factory pin striping. I can't see why someone would add these kind of pin stripes to this car. But someone has also added XR-7 wheels. Notice the '88 XR-7 stripes running along the body line. I've always noticed Blue Maxes to have either LS striping up there or no striping up there at all.http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?car_id=192417526&dealer_id=4541306Did some Blue Maxes have the '88 XR-7 pin stripe along the body line? Is this a Blue Max or an 88 XR-7? Quote Selected
Blue Max striping Reply #1 – December 25, 2005, 08:58:57 AM looks like an '87 XR7, somebody added turbines. Quote Selected

Blue Max striping Reply #4 – December 25, 2005, 02:03:21 PM That car is an '88 XR7 with Blue Max-style striping. Interesting. Perhaps the striping was ordered for a Blue Max but dealer-installed on this car. That's about the only logical explanation. Looks pretty badass though...I like it.Ever notice you find all the weird Cougars in Ohio? Quote Selected

Was the Blue Max "package" added at dealers or at the factory? The seller states that it is a Blue Max so perhaps there are some emblems or something stating that. If the VIN indicates XR-7, and it has c-pillar, dash, and decklid Blue Max emblems, that would lead me to believe that there were actually XR-7 Blue Maxes out there. I can't tell if it has a luggage rack. Quote Selected
Blue Max striping Reply #6 – December 25, 2005, 07:38:58 PM The Blue Max was a dealer-installed package, as far as I know. That would mean you could make an LS or an XR7 into a Max. I'd love to know how the dealerships got the striping on the bumpers to apply correctly though...those compound curves are a biatch. Anyway, I have never seen or even heard of an XR7 Max, although in theory it is possible. Don't forget, the same package applied to a non-blue car would be a Special Edition... Quote Selected
Blue Max striping Reply #7 – December 26, 2005, 02:05:13 PM Well I wonder if the car actually has Blue Max badges or Special Edition badges. being that the guy said Blue Max leads one to believe thats what they say. Quote Selected
Blue Max striping Reply #8 – January 17, 2006, 01:31:14 PM It does have Blue Max emblems...the new owner just e-mailed me. He's already sent for his History999 report and will let me know what he finds out. It does indeed seem like the car is an original Blue Max (in other words, it doesn't appear that someone "made" this car into one recently). I'll post pix when I get them. Quote Selected
