Remove interior, drop the engine trans and cut out the floorpan. Brace the rest of the body so its dosent collasp. Weld in a new front k memeber, use a front suspention setup from another small car, probibily the FOCUS v8 swap setup, trans tunnel, floor pans and suspention mounts (second gen RX7 rear ends are easy to do.. they do them all the time in lowrider trucks)

Throw the 351 in there. Do custom MM and make the auto trans work. 5-speed will be too much work. Get it running and make suspention ajustments. Wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy to much work for the money.

You might as well get a nice RX7 and drop a V8 in there. at least its got some resale value.

that would be pretty crazy. I always wanted to put a sbc in my aunts chevette, that would be a little easier since those are already RWD.

my uncle has a 79 Monza rotten away and I have a 327 &350 laying around I keep saying the write day will come to have some fun w/them but realistically I still waiting for time to do my head gaskets.

I had illusions of putting a 318 into my dads horizon before he had to junk it.The frame was rotten though and he hit a curb in the snow, after that it did not drive correctly so he junked it for the Focus. I wouldent mind Putting a 3.4 from a Taurus SHO in to my new cougar, but the fact that its yamaha kinda keeps me from doing it.

You what kills me about all this?

People see Chevettes with SBC's all the time, and nobody even bats an eye anymore. People just seem to just accept it. Guess it's because there's a Bowtie on the front, huh.

But try doing the same frickin' thing with a small Ford car and all of a sudden "it's way too much work", "it can't be done" and "why waste the motor".

Bull puckey. It's the spirit of hot-rodding, people. Doesn't matter what you own or what you've got, if it's something you really want to do, go for it...and don't let anyone dissuade you. Screw the naysayers.

Thankfully, this guy didn't listen to most of you. ;)

Anyone heard of the Ford SHOgun? It was a limited production (7 or 8 made) Ford Festiva with a SHO engine in the rear (RWD)

Car & Driver or Road & Track did a full article on them years ago. Was pretty cool.

As for a 351 in an Aspire....

Where the hell would you put it?

I say put the 351 in the backseat and use a transaxle... But dont forget to put a Harwood snorkel scoop on the roof!

Actually, maybe the first mod should be the hood scoop on the roof... Yeah, that would be kewl! lol
